Maybe we are being monitored kitty, an unwitting focus group of grannies

Can't imagine anyone paying for drab stuff they stock some nice items but over priced as all made in china or similar place.

Often pick up good bargain there !

Two extremes, drab or over- fussy (Per Una) or worse, racks of same-old, same-old!

I believe on another thread GN said they had asked but were spurned. M and S consultation used to involve "focus groups" My aunt went in Richmond and she said they were ringing up begging her to attend and even then poorly attended.
Maybe it is the people who don't shop there they should be talking to.
Acid test. Walk through clothes on mission to do food shopping (in my case for MIL). Is there a single item that catches eye and merits a second glance?

They have been publicising their new collection in recent weeks (see another thread ). They are dire, dull as ditchwater and so dated and such dull colours. The majority of comments on the Mail website and on Gransnet were negative, although the Mail did report earlier this week under a picture of another item in the collection that so far reactions had been 'positive'. If the Mail website and Gransnet was an example of positive feedback I hate to think what a negative response would be.

Today the Mail did have a picture of an item with colour on their business page, a long draggely skirt, oversized polo neck sweater and a scarf thing. It looked fine, but odd, on a 20 year old model, 5ft 10ins and size 8. I tried imagining on a typical older woman, 5ft 6in, but probably shorter and size 14 minimum. hmmm.

I walked through an M&S recently to reach the food section, the clothes were actively dull and depressing.

Once you reach a certain age you become invisible folks. The designers and fashion staff who decide on the clothes to go into production are a generation younger.
I dress for style and comfort and I may be 65 but feel 21 (well some days) so want colourful and stylish clothes not long tee shirts and leggings.

It's their autumn/winter collection they have been showing isn't it. Do they know something about the weather that we don't?

JessM I know what you mean. I actually had a £30 gift voucher and couldn't find anything to I really wanted to buy.

I heard the boss man of M&S on Radio 4 this morning and he was quite chipper about the Autumn collection. We can only wait and see.

I think it is arrogant of M&S to think they know better than us what we should be wearing. Most garments are poor quality and styles are not suitable for more mature ladies.

i have always bought m/s undies, that is until this past year, I suddenly found the elastic they use very irritating on my skin! so I bought some from a different place and they are fine. Anyone else had this problem? x

It seems to me that there is no clear consensus on here (why should there be?) about what we do want. I think most people would agree that the colours are not usually very flattering and the way the stores are organised by collection is confusing. Apart from that is there anything we can agree on? Is there some way of gathering opinion so we could ask M and S for the things we would like to see in the shops? I think we can probably agree that we don't want pastel embroidered cardigans too.
There is no point saying that we don't want things that are clearly not aimed at our age group in the first place (though we might choose to buy them), but some positive suggestions just might work? Top ten for the Gransnet wish-list maybe?

I agree matson M&S undies no longer suitable for me, I put it down to sourcing cheaper materials.
