anyone got their heating on ?

It has been warmer here in NW London outside rather than indoors. The sun has shone most of the day, I cannot believe it. It is now 7pm and no heating on, that will be 3 evenings this month that I have survived without heating but the T may change later.

Stansgran- I would faint if I had to pay that amount each month for dual fuel. Mine is £69 with EDF.

Oh, and the sun shone today for the first time in a week - and I wore sandals! - and it reached 13 degrees!

On holiday in Kent in a caravan for the last week - and we've had the heater on every morning and evening.

The lovely thing about modern touring caravans is that I can reach the heater and switch it on from the cosines of my sleeping bag.

Gorgeous here today, been sitting outside in a sundress, watching the washing dry.

EON charge us £180 dual fuel. we've had the CH on except for one day every evening since the beginning of winter. Perhaps not tonight.

Got heating on as only 4C outside. Very lucky our very very thick medieval walls keep the heat in well, and the floor insulation on top of the old parquet + new parquet really is making a difference.

I love my home-made barley filled microwave heated warm snuggle at night - the smell is so much nicer than the rubber of a hot water bottle. Made with very thick cotton curtain material from old Habitat curtains from the 70s! Fab.

We have our heating on still, but only first thing in the morning and evening if required!!! Well today is my birthday and cannot remember having heating on before on May 25. My mum just called me and she said (as she says every year!!) that the weather was beautiful when I was born!!

Yes Tegan I feel the cold much more than I used to. Especially now that the hot flushes are not so frequent. I've always had poor circulation which means that my hands are nearly always cold - good for pastry making though!

Heating on, layers on AND huddled under a blanket* yesterday evening! S.A.D. in May! .
Meantime the power companies have announced increased profits because of the increased fuel use.... seems morally wrong to me!

My goodness some of you must be living in big old castles, those charges seem hefty.

Yes, we have our heating on and I don't feel the cold as much as most people! I think I will get my thermals out again. If the sun doesn't come soon I will have to fly out to find it, can't do much more of this.

Oh yes we have had to pay extra 200 on top of the 61 month but so cold!
Mind you doing my friends pedicure and waxing nearly melted she had heating on so high!

Since I had my new boiler my fuel bill has gone down to @ £50 a month although this is partly to do with me paying too much throughout the winter. I think I could bring it down a bit more [I put up a washing line so I don't have to use the tumble dryer so often; of course we've had sub zero conditions and torrential rain and hail since the line went up ]. I also stopped Economy 7 which was no longer cost effective. But I have had the heating on on and off up till now. Does anyone else notice that they feel the cold much more as they get older? I was at my daughter's house the other day and was freezing.

My combined electricity and gas comes via Staywarm which is run nowadays by Eon. I pay by direct debit and each year's review estimates how much I am likely to use and how much they are going to charge me. At the last review they contacted me and asked me if I was using enough energy! That was after I'd had extra loft insulation put in. Anyway, the monthly cost stayed the same as it had been the previous year.

absent we could do with some of your winter over here, its been baltic these last few days, our heating was off two days earlier in the month. but we had snow yesterday,,, did someone say its nearly June!!!!!!

I think that I have had the heating off for a couple of evenings only this year to date. Today has been so cold that it has been on since lunchtime. I pay £69 a month dual fuel with EDF. The only bonus of having the heating on is that my washing dries quicker. London is wet, windy and chilly at present.

I do not like electric blankets - I prefer an old fashioned hot water bottle. I believe that sunshine (and showers) are forecast here tomorrow. I hope not to hear the word "drought" this year.

And I thought I was unlucky emigrating to the Southern Hemisphere and, therefore, a second winter, just as summer was starting in the UK. Btw the sun is blazing down this morning (Saturday) with a predicted high of 16C - not bad for winter.

I'm also with OVO, who claim to pay you 3% on outstanding balances. I pay £109 per month for dual fuel, but I must admit to being very miserly with the heating. I haven't had it on since the beginning of May and if I get chilly in the evening, sit under my heated electric throw to watch TV or surf the net.

Seems I can name them, it's OVO and they are fairly new. We're dual fuel as well and our bill is £120 per month which we thought was quite reasonable.

Yep - mine's been on for a couple of hours in the evening. Hate being cold in the house. DH is away so had socks on in bed last night

Yup, me too. I hope it makes you all feel better,that even in the south of Portugal, this evening we need a radiator on to keep the temperature above 20 degrees. The daytime temps. have risen to 24 or so for the last couple of days but we have a very old house that holds the damp and cold and there has been an awful lot of that this year. AND I've had the electric blanket on as well....and bed socks.
I think it probably is much warmer for people staying in hotels or apartments though.
