First on the list should be Tegan's ferret (it will deal with her rodent problem!)

Thank you Ella.

You are indeed moved

I spent the day settling mum into her new home and I feel very privileged that she seems on. A long journey and now a new phase! grin

No alarm clock this morning!

Thoroughly spoiled yesterday, had a wonderful time.

Off to see RS tonight and then staying with DS and a very special day on Friday smile I am very privileged to have such a family.

Greatnan Wed 19-Jun-13 14:16:37

Soop is recovering from her operation - we look forward to hearing from her soon!
Congratulations, Soop flowers. Wish they could be real!

Shortly going out in the sun with the roof off my car to be thoroughly spoiled!

Greatnan Wed 19-Jun-13 04:55:46

Oh, happy day - a pm from my daughter to say that the HMRC have accepted her husband's claim for a very large refund, based on an extra-statutory concession which I found for him. I am mother-in-law of the year! Some usefulness in having a retired tax inspector in the family.

Gally flowers

I'm not working today, which in itself cheers me up, however the reason for this is that I'm going to see Bruce Springsteen this evening smile smile smile

Having a 'linner' this afternoon (cross between lunch & dinner) with a friend before we meet up with spouses. Happy bunny.

Gally flowers they say things come in threes well by my reckoning you have had your share. The sun in Cyprus should lift your spirits.

Greatnan Tue 18-Jun-13 11:23:37

Gally - we are all rooting for you. flowers

Inthefields - no wonder they were grateful, but it is nice that they appreciated all you had done.

I am off to the local small town to try to find some wrap-around sarongs for wearing on the beach - I bought several in Malaysia but they are getting a bit tatty. I won't haggle, even though I know I will be charged about double the cost to the locals - prices will still be low by European standards and life is really tough here in Egypt now. The average salary is about £100 a month.

Gally what a rotten week, and its only Tuesday!!
I do hope the bank sort things out for you quickly.
Have some flowers .... I think you need them.

annodomini Tue 18-Jun-13 10:34:12

Great feelgood factor: Cardiff Singer of the World on BBC4 for the next two weeks. I hope they unearth another Bryn!

kittylester Tue 18-Jun-13 10:12:58

(((hugs))) Gally

I love a good thunderstorm but it doesn't seem warm enough here.[ sad]

It's the East Midlands lunch today and when I get back we should have new carpet in the 'playroom' grin

annodomini Tue 18-Jun-13 09:57:38

inthe fields, isn't it lovely to be appreciated? I tell my DS and his partner that being with the children is reward enough, but they like to be generous. smile I also look forward to a good tropical thunderstorm - love watching the lightning!
Poor you, Gally - thank goodness you are able to look on the bright side. I hope the bank gets its collective finger out and reimburses you for the fraud. ((((hug))))

I'm trying to be cheerful - against adversity though! In the last week, a considerable sum was removed illegally from my online savings account; I have painful stitches in my gum from root treatment; the painter has failed to turn up to paint the house; a wild garden has appeared in the gulley between my roof and next door's and the roots have grown into the cement and under the slates - so more money to cough up. On the upside, I am healthy if not happy, I have lots of lovely friends, I am losing weight and I will see 2 of my DDs and 4 of the gc's next weekend then I am going to sunny Cyprus for a week - so all things are relative I guess wink

whenim64 Tue 18-Jun-13 09:36:40

Butty I heard on the weather forecast that those rolling thunderstorms are heading this way later in the week. Great! I love a good June thunderstorm. Fantastic to watch and the pure air afterwards is magic! smile

Ella46 Tue 18-Jun-13 09:23:39

Just got an appointment with my doctor of choice, by booking online. It's so much easier than phoning and begging.

Butty Tue 18-Jun-13 09:18:51

Yesterday was hot and sunny. The roofers came and mended our leak. Last night a rolling collection of thunderstorms and hammering rain kept me awake. The electricity gave up.
This morning, it's still raining, the electricity is back on and no drip, drip, drip. Very happy about that! smile

inthefields Tue 18-Jun-13 09:06:08

I have a lovely thank you gift from my DD & SIL, as a thank you for taking holiday last week to provide babycare......a day of full on pampering, with manicure, pedicure, facial & massage, plus lovely lunch and afternoon tea.
I am stunned to be so spoiled

(hmmm ....maybe too soppy for this thread. Sorry!)

Oldgreymare Mon 17-Jun-13 19:38:42

Good news indeed Greatnan bask in the reflected glory ( and the Red Sea!)

Greatnan Mon 17-Jun-13 16:39:06

Thank you, anno, that is very kind. smile She has had to work hard because she was on anti-epilepsy drugs for several years as a child.

annodomini Mon 17-Jun-13 16:16:02

What makes me think that heredity has a good deal to do with your granddaughters' abilities? smile

Greatnan Mon 17-Jun-13 15:15:06

Thank you, when - she is still waiting for an appointment for a brain scan, but at the moment she is planning a holiday in Rhodes with a girl friend then three weeks in Cannes with her father, before spending the rest of the long vacation in New Zealand. You can't keep a good girl down.

whenim64 Mon 17-Jun-13 13:28:19

Nice to hear youre enjoying some good times, Greatnan. Your grandaughter has done well, considering the health scare she had at the time of her exams.
