Having spent most of this week in Addenbrooke's hospital with Mum, who has been admitted with a DVT at the top of her left leg, I was looking forward to a day catching up with housework and ironing. DH wanted to take DGS fishing so I packed them up with a lovely picnic and drove them to the lake.

I returned home to find that Peggy, the Jack Russell had managed to lock herself in the bathroom (she had jumped the gate in the kitchen doorway)
Trying to get out, she panicked and totally destroyed the bathroom door. angry We were going to replace it anyway but not just yet!! The mess took nearly an hour to clean up as it was an old door with 'innards' that resembled egg boxes - who thought that up - Barry bloody Bucknell?

I'm now calming down with a cup of coffee. Peggy is hiding in her basket, looking very guilty.

On a good note, Mum is now back in her nursing home on heparin and warfarin and cheerfully enjoying all the extra attention.

Ain't life grand? hmm

merlotgran Glad to hear that your Mum's problem is being dealt with. As for poor Peggy, give her a gentle hug. Be kind to yourself. smile

That's life! Got off to a worse start here as DH, having read the newspaper on his iPad while I slumbered, then got up and went downstairs for breakfast WITHOUT MAKING ME A CUP OF TEA . angry NOT amused. No excuse to say I was still asleep, how many times have I made the tea and left him a cup while he was still asleep? [rhetorical question] emoticon #stillnotreallyspeakingto him

So Gracesmum he has gone from being DH to OH? I am glad your Mum is improving merlotgran, poor you with all that clearing up and poor Peggy too, frightening for her even if she was silly. When things calm down perhaps you can open a bottle of wine perhaps share it between you.

Merlotgran- I am pleased to hear that your mother is feeling better and back in the nursing home.

Please give Peggy a hug from me. She really did not mean to cause the destruction.

My day started well - but is going downhill as I have an appointment with the Dentist at 4.00!

Oh Merlot....life does conspire when we are least up to coping sometimes. Yes - modern doors are nasty. I was being shown around a neighbours house last year. I am not that envious of other folks homes nowadays....have done the whole big house with umpteen loos so you really need a cleaner type thing and am well over that BUT, they had had some beautiful hand-made solid-oak cost-a-fortune doors put in (wow I actually found myself drooling!

So glad your Mum is feeling better Merlot....here's to a sunny relaxing week-end! wine
