Is it getting to anyone else? Is it just me? I am on such a downer today! I am doing everything at a crawl. Well, not actually doing much at all! hmm I haven't even started the dinner.

And I'm cold. sad You can't light the fire in June can you? sad

I think I've got SAD. In June. sad

#pissedoffandneedsomesunshine Or something. (rocketupyouknowwhere?)

2 hours of continual sunshine this afternoon, best day so far this week. Hope it continues into the week-end.

It's all very well having lovely evenings - still a bit parky though - but where does the sun go during the day?

Butty Thu 13-Jun-13 20:17:59

This day of rain has developed into a beautiful evening. Clear blue skies with low sunlight. Everything looks golden. Lovely.

Me! I used to think I'd like to have lived in a previous century but that was in my ignorant youth!

Tegan Thu 13-Jun-13 19:15:32

Never seen such heavy rain..just as all the kids were arriving at the Download Festival as well. I hope they all had a change of clothes. I love history stuff about the real nitty gritty things about living in the past. Is anyone watching the Friday night programme about how we'd survive living in Elizabethan times?

This kind of weather isn't that unusual, it's just we've come to expect blistering summers nd have forgotten that we all had a summer cardi and rain macs for our holidays!

I read a diary written in the 1860s (brilliant stuff including dismissing a farm servant for sex with a pig!) that included complaints of having to light fires during the day in August! Hope we don't have to do that this summer (light fires I mean, not the other...)

Went to a NADFAS lecture about the Black dDeath today (actually very amusing) and the speaker talked about the famines of the 14th century, of a succession of cold wet summers which led to the crops failing.......then she stopped and said "Is this beginning to sound familiar?" smile

My first load of washing dried in no time at all sunshine. I dutifully hung the second load out and took the dogs for a walk. Disaster, the heavens opened and we had to shelter, got home to find the washing line had snapped and washing was filthy angry

Managed to get my washing more or less dry between the rain showers and I can actually see patches of blue sky for the first time in two days. Not as good as seeing some sunshine but still better than rain.

"So much for global warming!!" It's probably what's causing the current weather though, shifting the patterns around...

Just come back from the shops and miraculously the sun has appeared and it's slightly windy, perfect drying weather. Just put the washing outside, went upstairs to do a few things no longer than 5 minutes came back down and guess what IT STARTED TO RAIN, THERE'S A SURPRISE! The partially dry washing is now wet again! Definitely going to get that new condenser tumble dryer. Just looked out the window whilst typing this, and hey it's sunny again. In or out with the washing what do I do?????? The tedious cycle of drying washing in England continues!!!!

Ariadne Thu 13-Jun-13 15:05:24

Sssssshhhhh - sun's shining here!

PRINTMISS Thu 13-Jun-13 10:15:09

The sun is doing it's best here, but fighting a losing battle against the scudding clouds. Put the washing on the line, hope it stays there. It is of course coming up to Wimbledon (how I hate that) and we usually had rotten weather then, I remember, because we used to go on our camping holiday about this time of year, and although my daughter doesn't agree, I seem to remember that it was cold and rain quite often then, and we would put the fire on as soon as we arrived hom.

Sky's grey washed, the rain's in for the day. Blowy. The greens in the garden are vibrant and lush. The sour cherries are just turning from yellow to blush - not yet ripe. Roof leak doing well. A day for some music, I think. smile

Ooh, mamie, shove the recipe in the recipes section, would you? [yum emoticon]

Mamie Thu 13-Jun-13 08:50:53

No barbecue Ariadne. Roast duck with honey and lavender instead!

Bags Thu 13-Jun-13 08:47:38

Sunny and breezy and 11° and midgy in Argyll. Love it.

ninathenana Thu 13-Jun-13 08:24:28

I controlled the heating for the country where I work..if I ever turned the storage heaters off at bank holiday time it was cold and wet so I started keeping them on. But then, a couple of years ago my storage heaters were taken away and it's been cold ever since sad.

gracesmum Wed 12-Jun-13 20:16:43

I wonder if it all my fault, installing solar panels 3 years ago blush

j08 Wed 12-Jun-13 20:06:44
