Grandsons first birthday in heaven

Thank you all for your kind thoughts which made me feel some of us do have genuine kindness. I feel we can move a few steps forward but will never forget him. Thanks Anne 09

How often it is that "One leaves, another arrives" The new baby will not, of course, be a replacement - they will be another new life begun, and a focus for everyone's love.

Rest in peace, little one. He clearly brought a great deal of love and joy in his short life, and that spirit will not die but live on in the love of all his family members.

I agree with Aka you can never get over something like that. I lost a brother when I was 14 and he was 19, not the same as a child I'm sure but nevertheless I have never forgotten him.

DS's fiancée's grandfather died last year and I think she might like to remember him in the same way and it would be lovely for her grandmother and father to see it too. Her other grandmother is very poorly too and won't be able to make the journey so a photo of her would be good too.

GrannyK even after 16 years you never get over a loss like that. It just seems so unnatural for a child to go before its parents or grandparents

moved my son was very close to his gran (my mother) and that's how it all started, he wanted to remember her on his wedding day in a visible way. Then the idea grew from there. He also loved his baby cousin (mentioned above) very dearly, and my children were teenagers when she died. A difficult time for our family.

Anne09 smiles through the tears. We also lost a darling little one, my niece, who died 16 years ago this month, when she was 2 point 8 (that's how it was written on the death certificate; 2.8). Her name was Joy.

At my son and his fiancee's wedding in September, they want a small table displaying framed photographs of loved ones who are no longer with us, and her photo will be amongst the others, in her favourite red velvet dress. .

Hi Anne and thanks for sharing your special day with us, at what is sure to have been an emotional time. What a grand name your little grandson was given. To be able to look forward the way you do is inspirational. I hope all goes well with the arrival of your new grandchild. It will be poignant for you all, I guess, but you describe a mutually supportive family who will help each other.
