I wonder why they're restricting what is broadcast? DVD?

Tegan Fri 05-Jul-13 12:37:52

Spoke to my friend who was there last night and she said it was amazing but I felt aggrieved yet again when she said they did Wild Horses [which we weren't allowed to see].

I first saw them in 1964 and most of the next 10 years after that. Now I refect back to those days, they were clean cut and smart, and their hair was well styled, just contrived to cause hostility from parents. My dad used to come out with all the cliches, which just rolled off my back. There's the teeniest photo of me and my friend at a 1964 concert in the Philip Norman biography, which brings back such great memories. The most fantastic concert was when they appeared with Otis Redding and Ike and Tina Turner. We had never seen anything like it - a revolution, looking back!

Saw the Beatles. Missed out on the Stones though.

saw them twice in 1965 all for 7/6p they haven't done bad for long haired scruffs who should get a proper job as my dad used to say.

Yes. To have seen it live must have been the best. Lucky son when. smile

Keith seems fine. He did a great interview soon after his book came out, and he was as sharp and witty as ever, albeit very laidback. Mick's always been a show off, but who cares? He keeps fit by doing ballet and Pilates, he says. It's certainly paid off for him. Glastonbury was a turning point for my 38 year old son, who mocks my passion for the Stones. He phoned me whilst they were on and said 'I get it now, I understand what you see in them - they're the best I've seen!' He'll be raiding my CDs andDVDs next!

Tegan Tue 02-Jul-13 11:11:56

Has he been the same since he fell out of that tree? Of all of them, Keith seemed to be the one that had got a bit fat round the tummy. Such a nice bloke though, if his book is anything to go by. Mick annoys me a bit with his 'cockerny' way of talking; as if we didn't know how upper middle class he actually is. Ronnie was looking incredibly well, given that he's the one that probably abuses his body more than the rest.

whenim64 Tue 02-Jul-13 11:07:39

Neither do I. Keith has probably got no veins left for a transfusion, anyway! grin

j08 Tue 02-Jul-13 10:56:57

I do NOT believe they get their blood changed! hmm grin

specki4eyes Tue 02-Jul-13 10:28:36

No problem, just watch me - I'll just dash to Switzerland to get my blood changed first though grin

j08 Mon 01-Jul-13 21:40:49

How many gransnetters could perform like that at our age?

j08 Mon 01-Jul-13 21:38:59

I am sick of all the ageism that is being condoned on here.

merlotgran Mon 01-Jul-13 21:32:12

A good collection of wrinkly photos

merlotgran Mon 01-Jul-13 21:25:43

Noooooo!!!! Surely we don't want them to grow old gracefully?? It's too late for that.

specki4eyes Mon 01-Jul-13 21:22:59

I've just read an article in The Times which likens The Stones (at Glasto) to those cartoon characters in the Wonga adverts - that made me laugh. It also said that Keef always looked as though he was playing a completely different song! grin
I didn't realise that we didn't see it all J08 - I was watching the warm up act (was it Primal Scream - now I liked them) and then suddenly on came a load of old gits who looked like they needed a good ironing.
I loved em in the 60's and 70's. I just wish they would grow old gracefully. Someone told me yesterday that they regularly have their blood changed - is that right?

j08 Mon 01-Jul-13 21:06:29

We did n' t get Paint it black. Or Glastonbury girl.

j08 Mon 01-Jul-13 21:05:08

confused I have already said about this. I was having a moan about it yesterday.

Does no one read my posts?

Marelli Mon 01-Jul-13 20:53:01

Ah, so that's why, when. Hopefully it'll come out on DVD - I loved it!

whenim64 Mon 01-Jul-13 20:46:24

Much as it sticks in my throat to say it, blame Mick Jagger. He took it to the wire with the Beeb, refusing to allow them to broadcast the full set. I hope the whole performance comes out on DVD. I would love to see them starting with Jumping Jack Flash - it must have been electric!

Marelli Mon 01-Jul-13 20:41:57

What a bummer, Tegan! Why did that happen? It was all over far too soon as far as I was concerned. hmm

Tegan Mon 01-Jul-13 20:37:57

Just been told that the first song we heard on Saturday night was actually tenth on the playlist. I think that's an insult to those of us that were looking forward to seeing them sad.

feetlebaum Mon 01-Jul-13 11:49:55

And Doddy, well into his eighties, still gives good value for the ticket price!

There will never be another Max Wall... the strand of tragedy that underlaid his comic persona was pure magic...

"I lost both of my parents when I was eight.... Yes.... both of them. Only eight... What a card game THAT was..."
