Good news?

Frank, Know how you feel. I opted for early retirement because the (time limited) offer was so good. I went, not because I wanted to but because it was in my best interests. I have already drawn my pension for more years than I worked for the company and plan to survive for many, many years more.

I remember when DF retired and belonged to his employers pensioners association. He used to give an elderly lady a lift to events. She was nearly 100 and lived several years more. She had been retired at 40 on health grounds.

Well I hope to be a nuisance to my first employers and be drawing my pension for longer than I was at work.

It's all a bit of a lottery Frank. The men in my family never make retirement if the family tree is an indication. I'm hoping my remaining son breaks the pattern.

Nobody can predict accurately how long people will live.
When I went on my retirement course they said plan your life financially to 84.
It appears I have now got to plan it to 86 as I am now 64.
My father however passed away 3 months before he was 90 and my mother passed away when she was 82.
