Whilst we're on the subject of 'things that happen when we're walking' [that never used to] my feet have started to get very sore and blistery. I read last night that women have thinner skin which is why, as they get older, their circulation is bad in the extremities. I only read up on feet but I'd assume it applies to hands as well sad. [just off now to put more plasters on]

Yep, my fingers are like sausages when I'm on a hike, even in cool weather. No suggestions for a cure, sorry.

Congrats on the weight loss though sunseeker flowers

grin Well, at least the robbers wouldn't be able to steal your rings, sunseeker!

I did a lot of walking on my holiday last week but not so much this week - will try holding my hands over my head (hope my neighbours don't think I am being held up) grin

That happens to my hands too on a long hike. Always has.

Have you been out walking a bit of a distance, sunseeker? My hands swell terribly when I'm out walking in warm weather. It sounds daft, perhaps, but can you sit with your hands raised upwards for a while? If the swelling lessens, it's likely it's fluid retention. Are you having plenty of fluids?

betsysgran I did it using the 5.2 diet (still have some way to go but its a start!). Doesn't feel as if I am on a diet at all.

moved I did consider the weather but even after holding my hands under a cold running tap they are still tight

merlot Don't think it is arthritis as I don't have any pain, could be fluid retention I suppose - any ideas how I can get rid of it?

betsysgran Wed 03-Jul-13 14:12:06

Sorry that should be flowers.

Sunseeker Well done. [Flowers] Would love to lose at least a stone. How did you do it?
