Anne58 Wed 01-Jan-14 19:14:30

Nonu if your comment relates to that bloody awful game, then I agree!

Phoenix....it takes a great deal to be barred from this place....but you've just managed it. tchshock

Anne58 Wed 01-Jan-14 19:49:19

Nonu ????

Pete yaaaay! (don't mean it really, well, I do about that bloody game, but not the being barred bit!)

Hmmmm, just a tentative thought, but what about an alternative bar, one where f***ball was banned, but rugby and racing was celebrated, appreciated, respected, given it's due, enjoyed, where a Ruby Walsh Appreciation Society could meet and discuss the merits of whether Annie Power should be entered into the mares race at Cheltenham, or put against the likes of Hurricane Fly and Big Bucks in the champion hurdle.........................sigh!

Ana Wed 01-Jan-14 20:47:34

Well...you're welcome to open your own bar, phoenix! Not sure how many customers you'd get though...hmm

At least in here we can always shut Pete in the games room with the TV and do our own thing in the bar (preferably while being entertained by Fireman Sam) wink

annsixty Wed 01-Jan-14 21:17:44

Not a good day for either of us Pete,we both need a stiff one!!!!

Can it be on the slate? A bit short after Christmas.

Anne58 Wed 01-Jan-14 21:37:35

Have neither the time nor the energy at present. Hibernating time, me thinks.

Pete Wed 01-Jan-14 23:25:53

It can be on anything you like annsixty....make them doubles. wink

Lona Thu 02-Jan-14 09:53:50

phoenix Who's this Ruby Walsh? grin
I think I'll join annsixty and Pete, I could do with a stiff one too! wink

glammanana Thu 02-Jan-14 10:15:49

Pete never mind about the scores this week grin there is always next year if they can't catch up in the next 11 matches,I think I might duck behind the sofa for a while !! with my bottle of Brandy for company.wink

Nonu Thu 02-Jan-14 10:44:51

Hey phoenix , Annie romped home yesterday with Ruby on board , did you watch ?
Could be a very special mare , since dawn Run in fact IMO.
Champion Hurdle for choice - me , only trouble there is Willie Mullins ought to know whether she can beat hurricane Fly ! Something to ponder on !
I had a good day , pity I did not pick Oscar Whiskey, because I had an accumulator

Nonu Thu 02-Jan-14 10:47:13

so would have been laughing all the way to Betfred .
69 days to Cheltenham festival mouthwatering eh !
sunshine

Anne58 Thu 02-Jan-14 12:16:37

Nonu of course I watched it! Another master class from Ruby! You're right, Annie Power does seem to have that certain "something" about her.

Not doing any betting at present, apart from my imaginary ones. Was also very impressed (again) with Double Ross.

Venetia Williams had an interesting horse running, French, 1 word name beginning with "A". Real stunner in the paddock, didn't do brilliantly but I have a feeling could be one to watch.

Weren't the conditions awful?

Lona Ruby is one of the best jump jockeys of all time, may not have been champion umpteen times over like AP McCoy, but he is brilliant!

Nonu Thu 02-Jan-14 12:28:41

I know the one you mean , ASTIGOS .
The weather was awful , I agree , there is picture in my paper of Sam Twiston Davies on I think Pigeon Island, judging by colour of silks , both of them covered head to toe in mud.
The horses do not seem to mind though . In fact when some of them win and are walking back it almost seems as if they shaking their head and saying just look at me I am a winner, AND I know it !

Tegan Thu 02-Jan-14 12:28:42

Is that the race where Liam's horse came second and Venetias was either pulled up or came last? Think it's one of her imports and we wondered if Liams horse was there to set the race up for the other one. There were two races yesterday where she had both Aiden and Liam riding [usually has them at different courses]. Had been looking forward to seeing Annie after hearing about her last season; wasn't all that impressed at Ascot but she was very good yesterday [albeit not beating much]. Willie has another Ch Hurdle contender in Un de Sceaux but I don't know much about him. I'm still hoping Jezki can come good in the race. he's taking on the Fly again soon and this time McCoy [hopefully] won't mess it up. Got my ticket for Ch H day and can't wait!

Anne58 Thu 02-Jan-14 12:31:19

Wish I was going envy

glammanana Thu 02-Jan-14 12:48:10

Nonu I saw that picture aswell it was difficult to tell where the horse and where the jockey where on the photo grin
Can't you watch it on TV Phoenix are all the races televised ?

Goose Thu 02-Jan-14 12:49:17

Nonu Thu 02-Jan-14 12:56:07

Nonu Thu 02-Jan-14 12:58:03

Know what you mean Glam . Cannot you get ch. 4 ? That it usually what we watch the racing ON !

Goose Thu 02-Jan-14 13:13:50

Ana Thu 02-Jan-14 13:15:14

Looks like we're outnumbered, Goose! grin

Goose Thu 02-Jan-14 13:27:15

looks a lot that way Ana hmm - poker??? Where's Mine Host? "PEEET"

Anne58 Thu 02-Jan-14 13:37:43

In a way I hope that I'm not able to watch it, because that will mean that I have managed to get a job.

(At this rate I'll be lucky if I still have a house to watch it in. sad )
