Must admit that I had forgotten, but they were talking to someone who trained for him on Ch4 this afternoon and I suddenly remembered.

Not the Nine o'Clock News was once the highlight of our week as, subsequently, was Alas, Smith and Jones. So sad to hear of Mel Smith's death. He made an outstanding mark on British comedy.

He will be missed by many and may he now rest in peace. Mr Smith has left a great legacy and has entertained millions of us.

Saw him at Cheltenham Tegan he was entertaining friends in a 'box', he didn't look well then.

I used to like NTNON, good clean fun.
