Are Sutton Coldfield people too posh to help?.

I don't think so.
I decided not to try to get the car started as it was 61 registration and it was covered by the Ford breakdown service.
The woman told me the car was due for service yesterday and it was booked in for a service tomorrow but that should not have been a problem.

Title should have been too posh to push wink

Maybe the hornblowers were just enjoying the spectacle and urging on your heroism, Frank.

You said the woman's car wouldn't start in front of your car. Maybe if you'd put her car behind your car (or rather, put your car in front of hers since hers wouldn't move) it would have started. Worth a try, doncha think? grin

Some years ago my DH's pickup stalled in the middle of the lane. A neighbour who was behind him immediately started sounding his horn - my DH got out of his pickup, walked back to the neighbour and said "tell you what, you start my truck and I'll blow your horn". Neighbour didn't say a word and sat in silence until DH managed to get his pickup started again!

Good for you, Frank, and how lucky for that woman that you came along. Unfortunately, many people would have just left her to get on with it. Good Samaritans are rare these days.

What bad manners! I always get cross when people hoot for no purpose in a situation that cannot be changed.

What a hero, Frank! smile Lucky you were there - I wonder how long the two women would have sat there hooting otherwise!

Good for you Frank. They might just have felt they weren't strong enough or had back problems, we don't know, but hooting is plain bad manners (I would have expected better in Sutton Coldfield)

When I was coming back from the park a woman's car would not start in front of mine.
I parked my car at the side of the road, got out and started pushing her car round the corner.
The 2 women drivers behind just kept on blowing their horn.
Did they not think if they got out and helped we could have got the obstruction cleared quicker? as I was pushing the car up hill.
