I read in the paper that Fergie has been at Balmoral this weekend , although before the D of E turned up !

Wonder what that was all about , after all the years in the wilderness ! Is there another Royal wedding in the offing I ask myself .

Hmmm

Aka Sat 17-Aug-13 20:48:50

So what....the Queen's corgis accompanied her in a private jet to Balmoral hmm

SueDonim Sat 17-Aug-13 20:33:50

I flew up to Aberdeen on Monday and a young woman I recognised got on the flight with her two dc. I couldn't think where I knew her from so decided it must one of those 'her off of the tellie' women and gave it no more thought. When we disembarked at Aberdeen I saw her again and the penny dropped - Sophie Wessex and her children! I must admit I was most envious that their car was on the airport apron and they didn't need to join the scrum to get their bags. envy

Fergie, Andrew and the girls came up the previous day by private jet. BA isn't good enough for them, apparently.

Princess Beatrice has been with her boyfriend Dave Clarke for about 6 years. He is an American who works for Richard Branson. The gossip columns seem to think and engagement is imminent. We'll see.

I seem to have been missing something here. Obviously not enough visits to the dentist to read Hello. Which of the girls, so silly to call them princesses, makes them sound like Eurotrash, although I suppose they are, do we think is about to get married, and to whom? Someone please enlighten me.crown

gracesmum Fri 16-Aug-13 20:18:17

Well she is a Gran and a Great-gran.....crown (So that's why we have the new smiley!!)

merlotgran Fri 16-Aug-13 20:09:16

Maybe Lilybet IS the Queen. shock Curtseys!

Greatnan Fri 16-Aug-13 20:03:41

Were you called after the Queen, Lilybet (I think her family call her Lilibet).

lilybet Fri 16-Aug-13 19:30:28

It would so make my day if they....Fergie and Andrew got married. They need each other.

Greatnan Fri 16-Aug-13 18:49:54

Sorry, yes, Celtic Rose.

Elegran Fri 16-Aug-13 18:33:12

It was CelticRose who I thought was equating being a billionaire with being "given the cures for aids and cancers" in a reply to Baubles. Maybe I misinterpreted her post.

Greatnan Fri 16-Aug-13 16:58:30

Same here, Jess. Where did anybody talk about cancer or aids on this thread?
Oh, lightbulb moment. The mention of 'Who wants to be a billionaire' made Celeb think that people with money are more likely to get good medical treatment- er, I think! Didn't work for Linda McCartney though.
Not sure how it applies to Fergie.

JessM Fri 16-Aug-13 16:08:21

Me too. Mystified about link between cancer, aids and billions.

Elegran Fri 16-Aug-13 15:45:11

So did I. feetlebaum. There is no guarantee, though, however much money you throw at it.

feetlebaum Fri 16-Aug-13 15:01:20

I got cured of cancer, and I'm no billionaire!

Elegran Fri 16-Aug-13 14:01:35

Or is it just in James Paterson's novels? I have not read any of them, so can't comment.

Elegran Fri 16-Aug-13 14:00:34

CelticRose Do you mean that billionaires get cured of aids and cancers?

tigger Fri 16-Aug-13 13:52:23

It was silly to keep her locked away in the cottage at Balmoral, she was there so why not include her. Apparently, the D of E in his youth was no angel so stones and glass houses spring to mind.

I don't think they ever truly separated, she had a rough time at the beginning of their marriage and perhaps that is being acknowledged now.

I feel quite ambivalent about the Duchess, so lets live and let live eh.

CelticRose Thu 15-Aug-13 10:09:08

Baubles Would you re-consider if you were given the cures for aids and cancers? James Patterson's novels "When the Wind Blows" and "The Lake House" are quite specific. I actually hadn't read one of his novels - fiction or otherwise - until one rainy week in Cyprus and that was all that was in the hotel.

dorsetpennt Thu 15-Aug-13 09:58:15

Perhaps as you say Ana Charles and Diana did behave badly but perhaps with more style. For example no photos of toe sucking with her 2 girls present. Not getting into such debt her husband had to buy if off, which means we bought it off for her. She managed, with some hard work pay a lot of it herself only to get into debt again. Thankfully after the film of her selling off appearances with her ex-husband its gone very quiet. Neither of her daughters will have a wedding like Prince William's , more like Tara's Phillip's wedding so maybe HRH has agreed to meet her before any such wedding takes place.

Nonu Thu 15-Aug-13 09:49:21

Well she certainly has a varied social life , Balmoral at the weekend then partying with Kate Moss in Venice , few days later .

Nice work if you can get it !!!

feetlebaum Thu 15-Aug-13 08:52:08

Aka - glad to read what you say about Fergie - because I always fancied her and thought she might be a lot of fun! Although not if you were paying the bills, presumably...

JessM Thu 15-Aug-13 08:26:40

one of the Charles's number 1 was it? or both?

Nelliemoser Thu 15-Aug-13 07:38:47

Statistically I am sure there is likely to be someone who is gay in any family of a particular size. A few historical monarchs included. Richard l? Edward ll ?one or other of the James's, Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Aka Thu 15-Aug-13 07:33:02

I met Fergie once and she was a very sweet, caring person. No, she didn't fit the royal mould, far too spontaneous, and no doubt many of us would be described as 'vulgar' by the likes of Martin Charteris. He never had time for any of the queen's children or their spouses and was particularly vindictive towards Fergie. As he had the queen's ear and was reputed to be her 'favourite' courtier it makes you wonder what poison he dripped into the royal ear.

JessM Thu 15-Aug-13 07:02:25

I saw Andrew once and he was teeny, as are most of the royals. Diana injected a few tall genes.
