I read in the paper that Fergie has been at Balmoral this weekend , although before the D of E turned up !

Wonder what that was all about , after all the years in the wilderness ! Is there another Royal wedding in the offing I ask myself .

Hmmm

dorsetpennt Tue 13-Aug-13 09:31:43

Who cares she is a total waste of space! Why would she go to Balmoral because of a Royal Wedding of one of her daughters? It wouldn't be organised there, I shouldn't think the Queen or D.of E would want anything to do with her after she tried to 'sell off' her appearances of her ex-husband

feetlebaum Tue 13-Aug-13 09:34:05

I sometimes wonder what would have happened if HRH had married her instead of Dana...

Nonu Tue 13-Aug-13 09:36:06

No I think you would be right about them not wanting to have anything to do with her after her appalling behaviour .
however, the Queen is all about appearances , and if she had not been invited back to the "fold" it might be a bit awkward if there was another wedding IMO

I can't imagine what it must be like to have one's every move monitored and speculated about by the press, but then of course Fergie seems to court that.

Riverwalk Tue 13-Aug-13 19:15:22

Nonu maybe it's Fergie and Andy getting re-married! shock

Ana Tue 13-Aug-13 19:22:02

I don't see that Fergie's behaviour was any more appalling than Charles's - or even Diana's come to that...hmm

Galen Tue 13-Aug-13 19:36:18

If one of her children were wanting to marry, they would need HM's permission! Quite antiquated really!

Nonu Tue 13-Aug-13 19:36:51

River gotta Laugh !! wouldn't that be funny !!

Ana Happen your"e right !!

I've often wondered if they aren't in a non married relationship [is that treason?]. A sort of 'friends with benefits' thing wink.

JessM Tue 13-Aug-13 20:08:20

or friends without ... and why not. Went to a middle-aged wedding recently where there was to my knowledge:
at least 2 ex girlfriends of the "groom"
the ex husband and at least one (female) ex lover of the bride...

Tegan Tue 13-Aug-13 20:24:28

I don't know; I always felt she didn't fit in with the 'family' but it was a true love match [at least, I like to think so].

JessM Tue 13-Aug-13 20:28:31

hmm tegan

Tegan Tue 13-Aug-13 20:32:11

I think I'm having a soppy day....

Ana Tue 13-Aug-13 21:27:10

I agree with you Tegan. They both looked so happy on their wedding day - such a shame it went wrong because she really was a breath of badly-needed fresh air. A decade or so later and no one would have questioned her suitability to be part of the royal family.

Someone described her as 'vulgar'. After she tried to sell access to Andrew, I tend to agree. The thing is, she just doesn't 'get' dignity. She's a victim of her fame, perhaps?

JessM Wed 14-Aug-13 19:35:10

Got to hand it to the gel for paying off her debts though.
Have heard him described as, well not the marrying kind, shall we say, but this may or may not be true. Don't think he has been linked romantically to anyone since has he?

merlotgran Wed 14-Aug-13 19:41:02

She hasn't paid off her debts though, JessM. She worked hard to pay off the first lot then her high spending ways got the better of her again. Trying to sell access to Andrew was an attempt to get shot of the second lot of debt but I think Andy has had to bail her out himself to keep her out of trouble.

merlotgran Wed 14-Aug-13 19:42:41

I used to think it was Edward who was not the marrying kind but he seems to be the most settled and happily married of the lot of 'em.

Andrew has always come accross as a bit sleazy to me.

Tegan Wed 14-Aug-13 19:46:32

He was the one that could have been good looking if he hadn't got so chubby. Mind you, he and Fergie seem to be great parents and are role models for divorced parents everywhere.

Anne58 Wed 14-Aug-13 19:52:53

specki it was Sir Martin Charteris (private secretary to HM) that described her as "vulgar, vulgar, vulgar"

When I lived in Windsor Castle my mother was accidentally put through to Sir Martin, who no doubt was surprised to answer his phone to hear someone saying "it's Bear here, don't tell me you're still in bed!"

merlot your are right in one respect about Edward! grin

Prince George, father of the present Duke of Kent, was a well known bisexual and was reputed to be a lover of Noel Coward. Many gay men marry, especially when their role in life seems to demand it.
Andrew and Sara have certainly remained great friends but I doubt if a remarriage is on the cards.

merlotgran Wed 14-Aug-13 20:32:11

Noel Coward wrote 'Mad About The Boy' for George, Duke of Kent.

GN Better than any newspaper! You can wander off for a few days and come back in to topical threads. Shouldn't really be surprised to learn aforementioned..... Outsider has to take the flack away from the bloods. Poor old Tim. Taking the blame for pouring a bad G&T while wife visits brother's wife's ex. You just couldn't write a book or a film to compare. Makes you wonder where the phrase "broken society" started. And another thing......! I bought a Postal Order today for the first time in about 50 years. The point being it cost me 50 pence. I only wanted to send £3! It did have a nice picture in the corner though. It was lost on me at first as I didn't have my specs on and I thought it was Emmeline Pankhurst. I wonder how much of the surcharge went to maintain the lifestyle in the manner of which one has become accustomed to? All together now...... "Who wants to be a billionaire....." Please... Join in if you remember the song.
