The palm trees outside the hotel have horizontal leaves and C-shaped trunks. When SIL's father got out of the car, his bunnet vanished. We spent some time in a howling gale searching for it along the street, in the swollen stream and under parked cars, then it reappeared inside the car.

Make the most of it Elegran. Perhaps you could get some pills to see you through from the local pharmacy? Not so sure cake is the answer! It's been pretty wild on the East this weekend but not as bad, obviously, as the West.
Zengran - I love Cirencester. DD1 lives in a nearby village and I always try to spend me-time in the town each time I visit.
I had a day in bed yesterday and feel much better for it - still croaking but the cough is not quite so bad so may join you lot later for an afternoon

No ferries home from Arran yesterday (force 8 gale) Large ferry stuck in harbour and another stuck in Ardrossan, smaller boat would be more stable but cannot get near piers as larger boats can't be safely moved yet in high winds.

We are nicely ensconced in the Kinloch Hotel, having been evicted from our self-catering house at 10 am yesterday. Service still disrupted today but weather gradually improving. We were booked on a sailing yesterday so would probably get a place when they can eventually get going again, but would have to queue at the harbour and wait. Decision has been made to enjoy another night being looked after and seeing more of Arran, then leave without queueing on Tuesday.

Ran out of blood pressure pills. Eating cake to compensate.

Just popped in before hanging out the washing and getting on with a few other jobs.
It's surprising how worn out I feel after going on a Mystery coach trip yesterday!! We visited Burford, Cirencester and Stratford and I enjoyed it all. Luckily the rain held off for most of the time. The only drawback was needing more time in each place. Still, I can always go back and visit in my own time.

A nice hot mug of frothy coffe will go down well,it is so miserable outside I can hear the tree's bending with the wind so a warm place to hide is just the job,I hope everyone is feeling brighter to-day it seems to be the time for bugs and upset tum's at the moment.
I've left some bacon and mushroom wraps for anyone who fancies a little munch,I've cut all the fat off the bacon so all nice and healthy.

Please can I get down and clean the kitchen floor. It is already sparkling clean so I am not meaning to insult you but I do find scrubbing floors very therapeutic. Unfortunately I can't get on my hands and knees any more but here anything is possible.

Can I come back for a soothing ? I've just spent 15 minutes trying to calm DD2 after her FiL took offence when DGD2 (aged 2!!) didn't like biltong (sp?). Apparently, it's DD2's fault for spoiling her! Phew, indeed, Ariadne!

Phew, what a weekend! Can Imjust sit quietly (!) in a corner with a and relax? Ooh, lovely.

Mmm, one should loose weight but somehow one doesn't!

Strange thing - the 24 hour belly bug.

I think the ache was to do with something I ate yesterday and, once I felt better I really enjoyed the bacon etc! Roast beef in an hour or so - must be better!

Sorry Kitty I feel partly responsible for your tummy ache. I shouldn't have mentioned the crispy bacon and especially mushrooms cooked in bacon fat. But it was Liz who started it!

I had a bad stomach/belly/tummy/abdomen ache this morning and DH brought me a couple of and looked after.me so I feel for you being on your own.

Many commiserations, Gally - I love living alone but I must admit that on the very odd occasion when I have a headache it would be nice to have somebody making a fuss of me! (Still, I will have plenty of people to make me a cup of tea in New Zealand).
If your cough and bad chest have lasted so long, have you consulted your doctor? And why were you moving furniture a few days ago! Rest, woman!

Gally I wish that I could pop in and make you a pot of tea. Keep well wrapped up. Feet up and relax. A warm hug from me to you.

Granny23 Mr soop likes your sound advice. He now has strong antibiotics to take before returning to the dentist for further treatment. Must say that the very thought of your plum chutney is making my mouth water.

I'm still in bed feeling very sorry for myself. I have had a horrible bubbly chesty cough for nearly 2 weeks and a croaky voice and now have a thumping headache to go with it. Can't be bothered to get going; it's at times like these that I really miss J bringing me up a cup of tea, or just being there to commiserate. At least it's stopped raining and the sun is making an effort. I feel very and p.......d off.
Hope the lovely Mr.Soop's root is soon dealt with. I had one done recently - what a relief that was.

Tell Mr Soop to keep dabbing neat whisky on his sore tooth - helps a little and eventually puts you past caring. I made plum chutney yesterday but it needs to sit for a month or two before it is ready to eat so I've brought some Orange& Ginger marmalade for the toast to go with your full English Scottish Breakfast.

Been pretty windy but not gale force here and now the sky has gone blue with white clouds scurrying across at a great rate of knots. One thing about our weather - It is never boring!

Liz please don't mention Full English again as I had to go and make one! Though, with the weather looking as it does, we need bolstering. So, eggs, bacon, sausages (for DH), mushrooms, tomatoes, toast and tea - I now need a little sit down to let it all settle.

I forgot to tell you that dear Mr soop needs root canal treatment. Ouch!

I'm still painting and decorating...in short bursts. I'm also beginning the gathering together of "wee mindings" to give to each family member when we have the pleasure of their company at the annual gathering. All very exciting

There is a howling gale blowing and the trees are bending at an alarming angle. The waves are white crested. The islands have disappeared behind a misty grey curtain. All very dramatic. Rory, being Rory, couldn't care less
