Soop I know that Rory and Tara do not get on but Tara is the same, one look at the heavy winds and she reverses indoors, straight into my chair. Luckily I have not put on an ounce of weight having sampled the gorgeous cakes etc. in your kitchen.

Now it looks as if my son and family will be perfectly safe to have their half term break in Dorset.

Whenever I walk into the kitchen and chat with you lot I feel warm inside. A very good feeling.
Nellie I can sense your discomfort and dismay. You're allowed to feel miffed. Torn tendons, wherever in the body they happen to be, are not only very painful but seem to take an age to recover. Your shoulder is about the worst place to have on-going discomfort We're here to give your moral support. You can moan as often as you like. We'll attempt to lift your spirits. At such times, we all need TLC.
Lona Yes...the word lashing is lovely when used in connection with chocolate sauce, clotted cream, butter, homemade jam. Now look what you've started. And this is one of my 500 calorie days. The 5:2 diet is beginning to show signs of doing the job [my waistband is no longer in strangle-mode.]
Liz No need to fret about crumbs. Rory will hoover them up in a trice.
We GN's in Scotland have been spared the brute force of the St Jude storm. Although yesterday's ferry to Islay appeared to be struggling to keep on course. At one stage, it was difficult to establish whether it was going to the islands or returning. It remained almost static.
Family in London report that the storm wasn't "that bad" but the train service is "wicked".
When I've finished my second mug of coffee, I shall return to what I hope will be a pleasing portrait of Rosie, the Cavalier Spaniel. At this point I have confidence in spades. However, it may take several attempts before I can say that I'm happy with the portrait. I shall photograph it when it is finished.
Take good care of each other. I'm off to catch up with family and friends on FB.

DS in Didcot managed to get to London by some kind of circuitous route but his homeward journey should be straightforward. Here are some cheese scones and some fruit ones. Honey, anyone?

Scones, did someone say scones? Yummy! I have just had two Tesco scones for my lunch, but not as tasty as your cheese scones anno my favourites. gracesmum more worrying that I had to check what I had said. Don't like getting older! Glad to see everyone has fared okay overnight.

LizG you're not alone in having to check back. My memory for long ago events is crystal clear. I can recall the names of pupils in the infant school [back in 1946] but when it comes to remembering the name of someone I met very recently...well, that's a different thing altogether.

The first attempt at painting Rosie's portrait is in the bin. This is the way I learn, so I'm not fretting...yet! I have no formal training. I do have a book on 'How to paint...' but I would sooner feel free to express myself in my way. Second attempt will commence tomorrow.

I hope that the storm is abating. I also hope that our GN's haven't suffered damage, flooding and such. Stay put. if you can. Keep warm and keep safe.

Thanks for the moral support yesterday. I have been to the physiotherapist today. Exercising my bad arm passively which is pulling it about with the good arm. I have been reasurred that if I follow advice given it will not damage anything. l am not feeling quite so wobbly today.
I have bought some of that lovely sticky malt loaf with me, comfort food. Enjoy this with your next brew.

Oh fireside! OH malt loaf! How are you doing number. Sadly I have to do some work in exactly 5 minutes. Had a nasty cramp at 6 this morning - hyperventilated and passed right out it seems. (I remember saying I-ll-be-awrite-when-my-bloodgases-av- re thinned) Next thing I knew I was waking up again with lower half off the bed and DH offering me culpa. Felt a little tired and woozy all morning. Ho hum. Duty calls, Enjoy.

Oh Jess - I hardly dare mention to one with such knowledge - but get some salt and re-hydrate. Hope you're feeling better now.

I can also vouch for soop's artistic skills. A lovely watercolour of Lucy adorns a little room in London.

Can I join you? Have just eaten rather a large dinner - mostly broccoli, but also a home-made beefburger and a bit of chicken were on the plate as well. I was really just not wanting to waste anything.... I'm now sitting plumply and a bit bagged-up, so I wondered if I could join you for a bit of virtual pudding? A scone would go down well - just the one, though .

Jess heck as like, the pain must have been chronic. Your mind thought to itself, bugger this for a game of soldiers and went blank. Please take things easy. No vaulting over the garden fence. I've made you a mug of freshly brews coffee. One crumpet left from yesterday...I'm toasting it for you.

Nellie I'm so pleased to hear that you are sounding more upbeat today. On going pain can drain one of all energy. Gentle exercise [as suggested by the physio] is the key to getting your shoulder stronger. It will take time and bags of patience.

On the subject of darling Rosie. Attempt number two was disappointing me almost from the first brush strokes. This afternoon, portrait number three will commence. I shall NOT give up. I am certain to finish at some future time with a grin on my face. = success.

There was a broody sky late yesterday afternoon. I was compelled to photograph yet more clouds. Also, a quarter rainbow over Islay earlier today. Later, when Mr soop can transfer the pics to a flash drive, I shall upload in my album.

Hi Katy this is soop's kitchen not a soup kitchen! Although, there is quie often a big pot of some sort of soup on the go.. You will usually find any sort of , and . There are comfy chairs, a feral cat, lots of (((hugs))) and, my favourite at this time of day, toast dripping with butter. Of course, everything is totally calorie free.

It is, above all, a haven of warmth and love away from any bickering going on in the rest of the world, be it virtual or real.

Now, any one got any hot chocolate - preferably with cream and marshmallows?

Morning everyone! Just called in with a batch of fresh made scones and a pot of homemade strawberry conserve (posh jam as my DGD calls it). Please enjoy whilst thy are still warm.

Love your cloud photos soop and the rainbow. We had a double one yesterday but when DH grabbed the i-pad and photographed it only the main one showed up. A rainbow emoticon would be nice.

Thanks folks I am fine but was limping and yelping yesterday from the aftereffects of the cramp. Keeping moving is the only remedy. And no i have never managed to hyperventilate myself into oblivion before.
