For the last 3 months of his life I had to give Ken his insulin injections, test his bloodsugar, feed him, change his pants, put him in the shower, physically manhandling him onto the shower seat, put him on the commode, wipe his bum, etc.
The last 3 weeks, he was bedridden and we had hospice at home coming to wash him and change him, after it had taken me an hour to change a pad and wash him on New Year's Day and then he messed himself straight away.
Eventually you say, I can't do this on my own any more, when you cannot manage to roll him over and back. The strange thing is that the hospice carers had to work in pairs, but we are allowed to do it on our own.
