We all make mistakes, often by not thinking about what we write or say, and about how others in a diverse community such as this will react. In general derogatory words and phrases to do with gender, race or creed aren't acceptable to many, though we will all argue about them. Sensitivity is the key. - not everyone may think the way you do.

It's a pity you are leaving, Poppy after one incident. Your thread on hunting was interesting; I agreed with you but I bet it will not be liked by some of our friends. That's life.

Ana, the thread was "Did you read?" which sounds like many other threads and not to do with goats.
I have now written it down in a book under the heading "GNet to avoid".
I did not expect to have to do that, but sometimes I cannot remember because my brain is so befuddled with drugs.
This is the second time I have written this. I obviously forgot to send the first one!

I think it is a good idea for new members to 'lurk' for a while and get the general feel of the forum before posting, and also to read the guide lines.

Ana Sun 15-Sept-13 18:19:17

Sorry, Jendurham, but surely you would remember the title of a thread you found offensive and wished to avoid in future? confused

Jendurham Sun 15-Sept-13 18:17:16

I wish they had taken off the thread about the goats. I find that most offensive.
The title has nothing whatsoever to do with the thread and I find myself opening it as I think it is about something else.
Is there anyway to mark a thread as one you want to avoid?

Gorki Sun 15-Sept-13 17:57:58

See "just wanted to say hi" bluebell. There is nothing offensive in that 1

Gorki Sun 15-Sept-13 17:50:50

Poppy was misunderstood when he used the term and I am not thinking about the bestiality thread but the earlier one where Poppy introduced himself .Now I am being misunderstood ! Help !! grin

bluebell Sun 15-Sept-13 17:42:52

Well the word was not 'misunderstood ' - it was plain wrong and I find nothing remotely amusing about bestiality

Gorki Sun 15-Sept-13 17:40:08

Poppy Leave it a week or so and then come back. That's what I did. I know how upset and angry you can feel when one word is misunderstood but your first post was quite funny and we need people like you. I think you have justified yourself very well. sunshine

Ana Sun 15-Sept-13 17:27:02

That's such a shame, Poppy1 - I'm sure things would have soon settled down, you've made some very interesting contributions on other threads. Don't let this one incident put you off!

Aka Sun 15-Sept-13 17:26:42

Man up Poppy wink

Anne58 Sun 15-Sept-13 17:25:22

Oh for heavens sake, just take it and move on, no need to leave! As I understand it, GNHQ have emailed you (obviously I don't know the content)

I have threads deleted, (and asked for some to be deleted blush ), but we just carry on.

You might notice that some members do not agree with each other over various things, but for the most part people stay and either agree to disagree, or sort of "avoid" threads where they feel they might be tempted to get a bit overheated! (OK, that's not the best way of putting it, and I'm sure someone will be along soon to re-phrase!)

Well i must be the shortest member to say goodbye,
but as i thought and hoped i was joining a light hearted set of older people when i joined only a short time ago,
I now find ive had a thread removed because of racist (one) word for those who dont know what im talking about i made a remark ref an tongue in cheek
welsh girls trying sound like scouser's back in the 1960's when everyone seemed to want to sound like liverpool folk
"i used the shortend word for a pakistan person, "no racist intention was meant what so ever, but instead of anyone from admin getting intouch to explain!!!!
the complete thread has been removed,

As ive said
" no way" am i a racist,
But having had a word with my wife ive decided to call it a day ref this forum as i'd feel i was treading on egg shells if i was to try and make friends via putting anything on the forum.

But before i go i'd like to wish all good luck and good health no matter what colour or race you may be.
Goodbye and my
Regards poppy1.
