So is drowning fluffy kittens. I expect someone will disagree with me

Yes, it does look rather like a baby, but I ate it anyway, in Majorca.

Gn, we went to Spain when DS1 was 6 months old and one evening the hotel did a barbecue where the centrepiece was spit roasted suckling pig. I had to leave! Hormones I expect grin

I am reminded of suckling pig! Delicious.

Ooh, yes, my little grandson is deliciously chubby and we say we could put him in the roasting pan surrounded by sausages and roast potatoes! smile

Don't you just love babies who look as though they have rubber bands round their ankles, thighs, wrist, elbows. Now they do look good enough to eat! grin

Greatnan Tue 17-Sep-13 16:07:38

I bet you do end up looking after her though!

I say the same thing, feetle. grin Am about to be in trouble because my daughter just posted on fb 'Would anyone like to watch my little angel for two hours on Wednesday?' There were no replies, so I just posted 'I think you lost them all at the 'Angel' part...'.

She is now just two and no longer looking edible. Beautiful, but too skinny.

I had forgotten that flanders and swann song. grin

I say "Ooh - wouldn't he look lovely on a spit..."

No wonder I don't get invited out much.

Flanders and Swan are a real childhood memory as my dad really liked them...

also WC Fields films....'no such thing as a tough child.. you just need to boil them for long enough' 'Do you like children? Yes, Fried'

Greatnan Mon 16-Sep-13 17:21:52

My favourite was 'The Gas Man came to call'! A wonderful pair.

Elegran Mon 16-Sep-13 17:13:55

There is a list of their work at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flanders_and_Swann

I love the hippopotamus song "Mud, Glorious Mud"

Galen Mon 16-Sep-13 17:02:45

Thanks. It was their bestiary wasn't it?

Flanders and Swann "The reluctant Cannibal"

I remember a song about a reluctant cannibal.
It went something like
I don't ear people
I don't eat people
Eating people is wrong!
It was on a LP (remember them?) that the children had, there was something about a mandating crocodile that wouldn't women or children as well.

Nelliemoser Mon 16-Sep-13 16:27:45

Disney "cleaned up" a lot of them like the ugly sisters chopping off their toes.

Greatnan Mon 16-Sep-13 16:19:13

Most children love the gory stories, don't they?

Nelliemoser Mon 16-Sep-13 16:18:26

Whoops. Not to mention St Nicholas and the pickled boys in the barrel.

Like the old witch in Hansel and Gretel wanting to feel ? Hansel's finger to see if he had fattened up enough to eat.

Greatnan I indeed she is a whinging Madam! grin

Greatnan Mon 16-Sep-13 16:01:57

Nellie - I wish he had eaten her - we have had to put up with her whiny voice for too many years! grin

j08 Mon 16-Sep-13 13:49:49

Yeah. They definitely grow out of the "want to eat them" stage. hmm

janerowena Mon 16-Sep-13 13:44:28

I think eating babies is only wrong if they are too skinny. They would have to be fattened up first.

I used to look at my baby son's forearm and wish chicken legs looked like that. And those little chewable fingers... depending on where they had been, of course.

Nelliemoser Mon 16-Sep-13 11:36:57

I remember years ago in the Archers when David and Ruth's daughter Pip was a baby there was a monologue by David to the baby about putting her in a pie and eating her up because she was so lovely.

It was a lovely moment of the sort of silly conversation doting parents use with their babies.

Quote Bluebs: we could perhaps discuss the rights and wrongs of drowning less attractive kittens ".

Sugar me! I'll get me water-wings. grin
