Just a quickie to tell you lot what a super day we had on the lovely Waverley - blue sky, turquoise sea, gentle breeze and hot sun. Perfecto! We could not have picked a better day and the celebrity spotters amongst us were all agog to see Timothy West and his wife, Prunella Scales on board too.(She is teeny-tiny by the way!)
We had 2 hours in Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight, which was just enough time to have a very nice lunch and a potter round the pretty square and little shops before the return trip to Portsmouth. A lovely day!
I've just spent ages watching all the little videos of the Waverley. It was like reliving some of my childhood, and today was my mum's birthday (she's been dead for 11 years), so it was nice to remember our holidays.
Lovely morning, up late, I am afraid. Our friends did the Waverley trip just last week in fine calm weather, so it looks like you too will have a calm day Gagagran, they thoroughly enjoyed their trip - all the way to Lulworth (I think!). Hope you all have an enjoyable day, it is certainly warmer.
Thanks Liz - I'm sure I will do! I think the Waverley has a programme of trips from different locations around the UK during the summer. We are going from Portsmouth and went on it at this time last year too.
It is a wonderful old ship and the route across the Solent to Yarmouth is picturesque. to everyone today - I hope!
Will be thinking of you on Monday Mick, hope all goes well. Enjoy your trip Gaga haven't seen the Waverley at the end of our pier for a while but maybe I have not been looking at the right time. To everyone else have a good day.
gaga and bags Is the Waverley an old boat? We used to holiday in Scotland a lot when I was young, and nearly every day we would go on a paddle steamer, around the western isles. Could it possibly be the same Waverley?
Lovely morning here on the south coast and it looks set fair for a perfect September day. I am looking forward to a trip on the paddle steamer "Waverley" to the Isle of Wight.
Good Morning Everyone, up early getting things ready for the British Heart foundation furniture collection, things I will not have space for. Weatherwise its Ok here in Brackley. Mick
