I only got a few answers right and some were guesses. Came out just above average for my age. Any takers?

Gracesmum, precisely. Why should I want to be 'down with the kids'.

I never expected my parents/grandparents to know and understand my youth culture so why should I be expected to understand my children's/grandchildren's. I am not a disapproving old fogey, I am just not interested. I am quite happy that the generations below me have a different culture to me.

In fact not all children share the same interests. My children were teenagers in the 1980s. DS's passion was folk and protest music, DD's Hollywood musicals. It was a battle of could DD ramp up her Judy Garland music sufficiently to drown DS's Billy Bragg - and vice versa. The only pop group that ever interested either of them was Bon Jovi.

40% - surprised, because my adult kids don't know many of these.

By sheer guesswork I got 16% on the kids' one. Obviously I don't see enough of the GC. No probs with yours, G'mum!

Greatnan Mon 30-Sept-13 09:49:03

I scored nil on the young test, but got everything but the acronyms right on our GN test.

I got 68% on the kids one ( still have a young DS) but still could not figure out how to share my success on Facebook!

Can I join in the cube, or is it a dodecahedron by now? I got 4% too. Gracesmum's one was much more fun. Does TFMN mean Totally Forgotten My Name?

I didn't do much better on Gracesmum's either.

I thought CUATGC was See You After the Geriatric Ceilidh.

merlotgran Thu 26-Sept-13 23:00:08

I don't think my teenage grandchildren would expect me to know any of the answers. Which is just as well coz I didn't. hmm

Eloethan Thu 26-Sept-13 22:34:38

Very funny Gracesmum.

kittylester Thu 26-Sept-13 17:07:37

I got 44% grin on the kids one and rather more on Gracesmum's one. grin

MiceElf Thu 26-Sept-13 17:04:25

I didn't know any of the media ones but I was spot on with the London words.

Actually, thinking about it KMT is MUCH more effective than some of what passes for bad language on here.

Gracesmum, your quiz was genius, and not just because I did rather well!

Lona Thu 26-Sept-13 16:59:57

Penstemmon I hereby hand the DWTK's crown over to you! grin

Penstemmon Thu 26-Sept-13 16:42:32

36% by pure guess work and one or two known answers! Would have been more if i had realised i could have entered more names on 1D question. I have had coaching in that from DGD!grin

tiggypiro Thu 26-Sept-13 16:19:46

12% but only with lucky guesses. Would have helped if I had even heard of those people.
I did much better with Gracesmum quiz but stuck a bit on the acronyms (can't think why !!)

thatbags Thu 26-Sept-13 16:12:38

Only to be expected, after all. I'm so old!

Ana Thu 26-Sept-13 16:11:58

No use trying to play it down, Lona!

You are officially Gransnet's 'Down with the Kids' Star grin

thatbags Thu 26-Sept-13 16:11:53

I quite enjoy it, Lona. I'm sure it's good for her self esteem for me to be an ignoramus on teenage issues. wink

Lona Thu 26-Sept-13 16:08:21

bags believe me, I am a figure of fun to my dgds as well as my dd and ds!

thatbags Thu 26-Sept-13 15:58:54

I have a savvy almost teenage daughter but I have to keep up the level of eye-rolling tolerance (or not) of my ignorance of the world that I provoke in her or I wouldn't be doing my duty as a parent wink

Lona Thu 26-Sept-13 15:55:08

I thought my 32% was going to be a low score.......guess I am 'down with the kids' blush but I do have savvy teenage gds.

HMHNanna Thu 26-Sept-13 14:49:47

28%, only because I was reading an article about One Direction last night. Why did I just write that? Oh and I saw Helen Skelton on TV this morning, it is her last day on Blue Peter today. I was 62 last birthday. How things change. I can't imagine my nanna reading about the Beatles when she was 62.

thatbags Thu 26-Sept-13 14:03:20

0% on the kids' one, and not only utterly unperturbed by that, but rather glad that stuff isn't under my radar.
