"About 2,060" for me! That can't be right....confused

FlicketyB Tue 08-Oct-13 15:39:52

1560 for me plus another 234 for Flickety, presumably all references in other people's posts.

My family always did say I was unbearably opinionated. Better not let them see this thread, they will laugh like drains.

1640 in previous one!

Help! It's obvious I spend WAY too much time on GN!sad

Galen Mon 07-Oct-13 19:16:25

1470 in this incarnation

j08 Mon 07-Oct-13 18:43:21

1,310 under this incarnation. Most of those will be You-Know-Who-Of-The-Mountains, telling me off. smile

absent Mon 07-Oct-13 18:26:03

Absentgrana comes up with 1,520. I don't think any of this makes any sense at all – at least not to me.

absent Mon 07-Oct-13 18:24:37

1,730 – but I'm not at all sure that they all me as it is a common word. In any case, I've only been absent, as it were, since the end of last year. Previously, I was absentgrana.

363 in a year and three quarters according to the site. Is it really that few? my addiction cannot be as bad as I thought. wink

Elegran Mon 07-Oct-13 16:52:40

"More than 500" could be any number from 500 up.

My point is that it is references to a word, not posts by a named member.

Greatnan Mon 07-Oct-13 16:48:42

Obviously wrong as I have posted over 1,000 jokes - surely it can't mean threads?

Elegran Mon 07-Oct-13 16:45:38

Now it says that "Greatnan" matched more than 500 posts.

Elegran Mon 07-Oct-13 16:44:42

Mine gets the message that it had thrown up more than 500 posts, but did not specify how many.

Elegran Mon 07-Oct-13 16:43:07

But if I put in "bedsit" it tells me 82 messages posts. That is 82 references to "bedsit" not posts by a bedsit.

Greatnan Mon 07-Oct-13 16:41:03

Now it is telling me that my name appears in 2,380 posts, but of course some of them would not have been posted by me.

Greatnan Mon 07-Oct-13 16:38:20

AS far as I remember, when I put my own name in the search box at the top right hand corner, it told me how many posts I had made.

Elegran Mon 07-Oct-13 16:36:45

How do you find that Greatnan ? I can only find a list of posts in which the search engine has found the name you were looking for - and even that is wildly inaccurate, like most things you look for in the search engine. It has told me recently that there was no trace of a sentence that I remembered had been posted a few days previously and quoted exactly.

Greatnan Mon 07-Oct-13 15:38:14

All the expat forums I use show the number of members, but they are not accurate because they don't subtract the numbers that have left. For each member, they show the number of posts they have made, and you can see the list in descending order. You can, of course, search for a member on this forum and it will tell you how many posts they have made, but there is no complete list. I think I can guess who is the most prolific poster - and I would be pretty high up myself! (Especially in view of all the jokes I posted!)

Elegran Mon 07-Oct-13 12:44:21

How many page views then, Kat ? That is measured, surely, by one of those statistics applications?

annodomini Mon 07-Oct-13 12:40:38

Everyone who has signed up surely counts as a member.

kittylester Mon 07-Oct-13 11:58:38

Who counts as a member? Is it people with profiles, people who regularly post, people who enter competitions, visitors to the site? confused

JessM Mon 07-Oct-13 11:53:12

Very true gracesmum - we are very diligent voters after all

gracesmum Mon 07-Oct-13 11:41:49

It is a thought that if every member lobbied their MP/waved a banner/even wrote to a newspaper simultaneously or somehow made their voices heard in unison we co uld deafen the world - and highlight many many wrongs.

KatGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 07-Oct-13 11:37:08

Ohh we have tens of thousands - a figure changing constantly so we couldn't give you an exact number! We're ever expanding, so much so, we even have world domination within our sights... grin

janthea Mon 07-Oct-13 10:44:25

I was at my DD's house over the weekend and a discussion came up about Gransnet and my SIL asked me how many members were on the site.

I realised that I didn't actually know the answer and muttered something about 'thousands'.

What is the approximate number? hmm
