We used to joke that A&E would ring us to check DS2 was still alive if they didn't see him on at least a monthly basis. grin

Love the humour Liz and oh, I know that feeling so well.

annodomini Thu 10-Oct-13 22:28:02

when, that sounds like my experience. The first time DS1 broke his leg, younger brother did the same thing six weeks later. I had two in plaster casts at the same time. They knew us so well in the fracture clinic.

lizG That is all so true, I am sure most of us have been in that situation at one time or another. Thank you for wording it so well and sharing it flowers

LizG Thu 10-Oct-13 19:10:07

Oh thank you all I am quite wordless after reading your replies blush! I found myself thinking my poem when I eventually got the poor dog out for her run. To everyone who seems to live my sort of life I send you flowers and willl pass the ones you sent to my daughter (if I ever dare show her this thread).

She is very miserable because she only got back to work last Thursday after 5 weeeks off with a broken little toe. Unfortunately she cares for young adults with challenging behaviour and although she could work at a desk there isn't that sort of work for her. So back on SSP I'm afraid.

Still I expect the world will seem more positive for her tomorrow. One good thing the breaks were genuine painful accidents and not bone problems.

Thank you all again.

LizG - brilliant!

whenim64 Thu 10-Oct-13 18:02:46

Oh, how that resonates, Liz. One twin with a broken arm, then 6 weeks after, the other twin with two broken arms. A and E my second home!

Hope she's ok flowers

Marelli Thu 10-Oct-13 17:37:21

LizG - all's right with the world again. Not as you might have chosen it, but she's ok, and that's all that matters. flowers

ffinnochio Thu 10-Oct-13 17:22:12

LizG That made me smile, particularly the last line.

kittylester Thu 10-Oct-13 17:12:21

Are you living my life Liz, albeit rather more eloquently?

annodomini Thu 10-Oct-13 16:58:06

Sounds familiar! One phone call: 'I don't want to worry you Mrs W, but...' Oh yes, DS1 had broken his leg again - skateboarding which he'd never done before.

j08 Thu 10-Oct-13 16:57:52

Aww. smile

And flowers for her if it's one of yours.

Don't you just love it when a day comes together?
When you open the curtains and gaze out at the weather.
The sun beating down makes you stop and think:
A trip to the beach; a walk then a drink?
Then the telephone warbles:
'Mum!' -

Don't you just love it when your heart starts to fall?
You lift the receiver and take part in the call.
A cloud floating by blocks out all the sun
A crisis ensues; I wonder which one -
Is in trouble today?

Don't you just love it when the facts come to light?
When one of the offspring has been up all the night.
Time spent waiting for X-Rays; - a white plaster cast
The third break this summer; let's hope it's the last.
Pretty please!

Don't you just love it when your plans shape like a pear?
You rush off immediately, never a brush to your hair.
The dog is forgotten, toast that goes cold,
This poor automaton is beginning to feel old.
But then -

Don't you just love it when at each step you find
People are caring, well meaning and kind?
Her work is understanding, doctor's letters are sought
Loaned wheelchairs, crutches, new trousers are bought.
She'll be okay smile
