Usually you can sniff out riding kit.

It is so frustrating when 'misplacements' like that happen!

Yesterday in the rain I carried DGS2(16mths) to the car outside my front door, I was also carrying DGS bag, my handbag and umbrella. I clicked the car key to unlock the car, put the boy in his car seat , bags & umbrella in the floor space below his car seat & strapped him in. Where was my car key? Not in my raincoat pocket, handbag, babyseat, DGS bag. I searched all items twice over getting wetter and wetter and the school pick up deadline for other DGS got closer and closer.

I made myself stop panicking and eventually looked in the least likely place..and there inside the folded umbrella was the car key!!confused Good job it was only the little boy to see my blush

Always look in the least likely place. I bought myself a Burberry wool lining at vast expense on the way to a very cold winter in NY.it vanished after the coat was cleaned . Turned up several years later at the bottom of a sewing basket. No memory why I should have put it there. DH says we need some form of dowsing rod to find anything in this house

My last sentence sounds very Heinrik Hansen! grin

The answer to the OP is 'very easily, in my experience'. They will resurface once they have been replaced. grin

tanith Nope he was still wearing his boots and I carried the bag containing his hat confused

There's is not a very big house to loose something in.

@harrigran - My mother once filled the kettle, took it outside and put it on the dustbin... worse - she prepared a Sunday joint, surrounded by potatoes, etc and took it upstairs and placed it on her bed...

Still, she laughed as hard as the rest of us!

Don't you just hate it when that happens? The phone call that asks (over politely) can you just check that little Johnny hasn't left his homework/school shoes/Darth Vadar/cuddled toy/etc at you house?

I can never remember what they brought in the first place never mind what they took home. They can count themselves lucky that little Johnny was dropped at nursery/picked up from school/dancing class/violin lesson etc fed, all in one piece and free from change.

Did they perhaps get left at the stable?

harrigran Sat 12-Oct-13 10:53:11

Check the dustbin, I have been known to put shopping in bin and carry rubbish back into house.

They are probably in his house somewhere. They need to look better. (going on personal experience hmm)

A DGS riding hat and boots disappear between my house and his ???

Whilst he was staying at mine last weekend I took him to his lesson. When his dad picked him up we loaded everything (he has to bring his duvet amongst other things) into dad's car. DD has just text asking where bag with hat is, and where are boots.
Bloody good question sad
