A DGS riding hat and boots disappear between my house and his ???

Whilst he was staying at mine last weekend I took him to his lesson. When his dad picked him up we loaded everything (he has to bring his duvet amongst other things) into dad's car. DD has just text asking where bag with hat is, and where are boots.
Bloody good question sad

They are probably in his house somewhere. They need to look better. (going on personal experience hmm)

Check the dustbin, I have been known to put shopping in bin and carry rubbish back into house.

Did they perhaps get left at the stable?

Don't you just hate it when that happens? The phone call that asks (over politely) can you just check that little Johnny hasn't left his homework/school shoes/Darth Vadar/cuddled toy/etc at you house?

I can never remember what they brought in the first place never mind what they took home. They can count themselves lucky that little Johnny was dropped at nursery/picked up from school/dancing class/violin lesson etc fed, all in one piece and free from change.

@harrigran - My mother once filled the kettle, took it outside and put it on the dustbin... worse - she prepared a Sunday joint, surrounded by potatoes, etc and took it upstairs and placed it on her bed...

Still, she laughed as hard as the rest of us!

tanith Nope he was still wearing his boots and I carried the bag containing his hat confused

There's is not a very big house to loose something in.

The answer to the OP is 'very easily, in my experience'. They will resurface once they have been replaced. grin

My last sentence sounds very Heinrik Hansen! grin

Always look in the least likely place. I bought myself a Burberry wool lining at vast expense on the way to a very cold winter in NY.it vanished after the coat was cleaned . Turned up several years later at the bottom of a sewing basket. No memory why I should have put it there. DH says we need some form of dowsing rod to find anything in this house

It is so frustrating when 'misplacements' like that happen!

Yesterday in the rain I carried DGS2(16mths) to the car outside my front door, I was also carrying DGS bag, my handbag and umbrella. I clicked the car key to unlock the car, put the boy in his car seat , bags & umbrella in the floor space below his car seat & strapped him in. Where was my car key? Not in my raincoat pocket, handbag, babyseat, DGS bag. I searched all items twice over getting wetter and wetter and the school pick up deadline for other DGS got closer and closer.

I made myself stop panicking and eventually looked in the least likely place..and there inside the folded umbrella was the car key!!confused Good job it was only the little boy to see my blush

That horrible horse smell.

glassortwo Sat 12-Oct-13 19:55:14

feetle my Mum would hide the Sunday joint (cooked on a Saturday) under the bed from my Dad, he would return from the club and eat the lot if it was lying around. That was when they could afford a joint!

Horses have a wonderful smell.

Iam64 Mon 14-Oct-13 08:44:22

Horses smell so good. I don't rider them any more, sadly, but I will never forget the joy of it, and the scents that accompanied any contact with those wonderful animals. Hope you find the kit nina.

Not a horse lover myself, a bit too big for me, but they are wonderful creatures aren't they. A long while ago we helped at several gymkhanas(?) spelling, for the disabled, and it was so good to see the horses almost aware of their importance, and the delight they were giving to people. I cannot imagine what it must feel like to be out of a wheel-chair and on the back of a horse - RIDING HIGH! Our son loves his horse-riding - specially when there is a rather nice young lady helping him.

My DD was about to go on holiday with her husband and children and saw he had left his very expensive watch on the table. She hid it away before they left the house and now she can't find it!! Has looked everything. It's somewhere safe - just can't remember where! The holiday was about 4 weeks ago and he keeps asking her if she has found his watch. confused

Last week I put my recycling in the garden waste bin. I realised yesterday when I was putting some more recycling in the bin, and wondered where last week's had gone. It took me over half an hour to transfer it from one bin to the other using one of those long-handled grabbers. I hope I will not do it again, but who knows?

I love the smell of hoof oil.

positivepam Tue 15-Oct-13 20:39:01

I love all smells connected with horses and I really miss not having my horses anymore. I agree about hoof oil Tegan, and I think you either love them or are just down right scared of them. My DDs have been known to dump a boyfriend if they didn't like the horses ha ha, many years ago of course. grin

Tegan Tue 15-Oct-13 20:56:42

I spent a lot of time over 14 years in fields with horses and ponies; went from being scared of them to feeling really happy with them, but back to being nervous again now. They are very big and unpredictable. But I used to love watching them and their friendships with other horses. It was magical sometimes early in the morning when they were all lying down and I'd just go and plonk myself down next to Rosie and talk to her. But I don't miss having to go out on a dark winters night to check that everything was ok.

The use of horses in all kinds of therapies seems to be increasing. Wonderful animals.
