Morning, a very stormy night, but no damage thank goodness. The sun is trying to shine, but the wind is scuttling the clouds across the sky, so I think it is going to be one of those days. Enjoyed the extra hours sleep, but the alarm went off at 5.15, no idea why, we never set it! Enjoy your days.

MrsM Sun 27-Oct-13 07:51:03

Here we are in winter time then - bright and quite nice but who knows what The Storm is going to bring?

I'm off for a couple of days 'Nanna-duty' later, so, as the old song goes, Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow smile

Off to baby sit for a week. Do hope the storm keeps off before we fly. Hellhole Heathrow at 5ish. Family who were here for the week getting the train now. Do hope they get back before we do as they fly from Manchester .

Morning everyone. Quiet round here in the north-west so far.

Big day today. My little preemie grandaughters are two! cupcake They spent their first nine weeks in SCBU because they were born 10 weeks early, but now they are active little whirlwinds, and have been up early tearing wrapping paper up and chucking it over the safety gate at the cat, who stays out of squeezing reach grin

Good morning everyone. We are in Cardiff this morning - drove through awful rain on M4 yesterday but we made it safely. Need to get out this morning before the forecast storm as a few bits to do like buying dollars and a few goodies the US branch of the family miss. We hit Heathrow Wednesday! I hope everyone is safe with the storm today.

Anybody forget to put the clocks back? Bright, sunny and windy here but as we all know "The Great Storm" is on it's way. Lets hope it doesn't reek too much havoc.

berdie Sun 27-Oct-13 08:16:57

Morning all, bright and breezy here in Bradford, glorious sunshine. Got a little friend coming to stay, Starla a two year old bitch (sorry), a friend of ours is working overnight so we babysit the dog. Have a good day folks.smile

A beautiful bright and sunny morning here on the North East coast. Perfect for a walk on the beach. Half term duties for most of next week so making the most of my last day of peace. Have a good day all. smile

I'm in the North West and it is quiet here. I have been on the roof this morning replacing a guttering down pipe joiner following another sleepless night, all done, breakfast finished, and another lonely weekend (the 52nd on the trot) is on the home run. It's almost a year since my ex walked out and last week she kindly wrote two lines to tell me she and her boyfriend have bought a house in a village in the peak district and I am to send any further correspondence there. At the same time she wants me out of my house so she can have the equity she feels she is owed. Such a lovely person. Roll on tomorrow morning for the distraction of work.
I remember the storm in '87 vividly, I lived in Hampshire at the time and it was havoc all round. Let's hope we do not have a repeat. I suspect forcasters have learn't their lesson and are now erring on the cautious side as they were, embarrisingly, caught unawares in 87.

Nelliemoser Sun 27-Oct-13 08:29:56

Bright breezy in Cheshire with light fast moving clouds.

Nelliemoser Sun 27-Oct-13 08:34:02

Oh bugger! I didn't put the clocks back! Many thanks * BAnanas*

Sook Sun 27-Oct-13 08:55:25

Morning everyone as Nellie says it's bright and breezy in Cheshire.

when Happy Birthday to your DGDs, my two year DGS also spent a few weeks in SCBU because he too was a preemie. He is much the same as your DGDs now, little miracles aren't they?

whenim64 Sun 27-Oct-13 09:09:05

Great news, sook. It's amazing that these tiny mites do so well. SCBUs are scary places to walk into, but they have our gratitude for all they did. smile

ps Sun 27-Oct-13 09:10:12

Mmmm, I'm in Cheshire and the trees have only just started swaying slightly and it is overcast. It was dead still and bright at 0700 this morning when I was on the roof but there is a definite breeze now. When I worked in the North Sea we had a saying of "Sun up - wind up, Sun down - wind down" and that remains true on land too. I guess different parts of the County experience different weather patterns, I am nowhere near the coast.

Lona Sun 27-Oct-13 09:17:49

Morning all, I'm very tired after a late night babysitting for my son.

He is 40 tomorrow and celebrated last night with a large gathering of family and friends from all over, including a visit from the England rugby team!
He is taking me, dil and dgc out to dinner tomorrow evening smile

This morning I see a quote from me in the paper, from Gnet, re the new book! Fame at last.........again grin

ps flowers It will get better.

when Enjoy those rascals! smile

Sook Sun 27-Oct-13 09:36:14

ps Nellie and I both live in the same area of Cheshire approx 30-35 miles away from the coast. When I walked my dogs this morning at 6:30 am it was calm and mild, the skies are darkening now and it's quite chilly.

Charleygirl Sun 27-Oct-13 09:39:53

Very sunny in my part of London but also very windy. I am going out for lunch with a friend, going home and battening down the hatches, hoping that I will be okay. Luckily I will not be driving far.

annodomini Sun 27-Oct-13 09:52:08

In NE Cheshire. Now it is darker and raining here. Gloom! when, happy birthday to the twins. What a joyful day for all of you, considering the anxious time you went through two years ago. smile

harrigran Sun 27-Oct-13 09:55:07

Can't believe it is two years when Happy Birthday to the girls smile

Nelliemoser Sun 27-Oct-13 10:31:21

I think Sook is being a tad optimistic about how near the sea is. I think she might be referring to the bit of the very silted up Dee and Mersey estuary salt marshes. It's just about salt water there. wink grin
Prestatyn North Wales is the nearest "proper sea" by my definition as somewhere you could paddle! That is 70 miles.

AlieOxon Sun 27-Oct-13 10:49:20

Cheers everyone. I didn't realise about the hour - my computer of course has done it without telling me!

A beezy shiny day at the moment, but not great for me.....my greenhouse tarpaulin has blown half off and must be fixed, my colitis is flaring up, and I have a new problem with my neighbours.

Gaaah.
