I thought it would be a good idea to open a thread where those of us who are upset by this news can comfort each other. Better to share thoughts here and leave the IMPORTANT thread for on-going efforts to find her.

Yes, the car issue was so upsetting for the family. Police on a wild goose chase because a psychic had 'seen' it. Good to get back to sensible and practical support.

Such a blow yesterday when no car was found. I can't think what could be done that hasn't already been suggested but hoping and praying especially for strength for Carol's family.

Oldgreymare Sun 03-Nov-13 09:40:18

Please let her be found quickly.... it MUST be today.

Kiora Sun 03-Nov-13 09:30:42

I'm relatively new to gransnet but have seen some of her posts. I do hope she is found safe and well. Like a lot of you I think that the power of positive thoughts/prayers can be powerful, at the very least I think they give a small crumb of comfort to relatives. I will follow the story with hope

Gad - a great idea

I woke this morning to the Sunday Radio 4 Appeal which was for the Charity Missing Persons. Those who feel helpless and wish to do something positive might wish to send a donation to this or Missing Persons Abroad (they may be linked to each other), the Charity which has been involved in the search for Carol since the start. Google them or BBC Radio 4 for details of how to give.

Lynker Super!! Sweet Dreams then!!

Lynker Sat 02-Nov-13 23:24:03

Aurelia, I have PM'd Whenim64. Thanks for your help.

Aurelia Sat 02-Nov-13 23:16:24

Lynker more or less as you were posting Lara at HQ set up some new threads, there is one called "Suggestions", maybe you would repost your very helpful idea on there?

Aurelia Sat 02-Nov-13 22:57:25

Lynker PMs are easy on here, just click on the Private Message area on the purple bar above a post from anyone you want to message.
Sorry if you already know this, it's hard to tell who is an old hand at the interweb thingy and who is new to it.

Maybe you could send GrandmaMiney to the main thread, or get Whenim64 to contact GrandmaMiney, she would be a most wonderful contact. What a brilliant idea of yours.

Lynker Sat 02-Nov-13 22:40:33

GrandmaMiney posts on the Strictly Come Dancing Thread. She is Susanna Reid's mother. Susanna presents BBC 1 Breakfast News.....could someone who knows how, contact her via PM..........would it help in any way? Just a thought........

Marelli My heart goes out to all Carol's family, and what they are suffering just now.

Marelli Sat 02-Nov-13 22:30:35

I think she is, Aurelia. It can't be an easy time for Elaine just now, either.

Aurelia Sat 02-Nov-13 22:27:33

There must be hundreds of black 4x4s in the region, and more belonging to tourists there for the holiday weekend. So this may not have been a hoax, just someone seeing a black 4x4.
Realistically, if Carol set out after lunch for a walk, she must be within a few miles of Habere, because she would want to get back home before dark.
Why aren't the Police searching in widening 2km rings from where she was last seen?

For those asking about Elaine, I think Heather is Elaine's daughter.

Marelli Sat 02-Nov-13 22:05:25

Just listened to that, Elegran. If only someone will take notice of it.

Elegran Sat 02-Nov-13 21:57:35

Some brainless hoaxer who sat watching the police turn up to not find it. I do hope that they can trace them via the forum they posted that on.

Ariadne Sat 02-Nov-13 20:54:43

Police couldn't find it at the given location.

merlotgran Sat 02-Nov-13 20:41:20

My thoughts are also with the family. If it's nerve wracking for us it must be agony for them.

shysal Sat 02-Nov-13 20:32:59

Let us hope they have tracker dogs at the ready if it is indeed Carol's car. I shall sleep even less tonight!

tanith Sat 02-Nov-13 20:25:37

Positive thoughts for Greatnan, her family and all those involved in the search, waiting with bated breath and everything crossed.
