I thought it would be a good idea to open a thread where those of us who are upset by this news can comfort each other. Better to share thoughts here and leave the IMPORTANT thread for on-going efforts to find her.

Hear hear (?here?) to that Gillybob. Everyone is doing a fantastic job. I feel very useless, but am sharing everything that comes my way

gillybob Fri 01-Nov-13 11:18:48

I have very limited access to the internet at the moment but just a want to say that I think what you are all doing is absolutely marvellous. I am sure all the hard work will pay off and Greatnan will be found safe and well very soon. flowers to you all.

It's very kind of you. anno and I have spent quite a bit of time with Carol, but we also know what's going on behind the scenes and there are some very active Gransnetters, Mumsnetters and others who are linked in to the support group, who are up at the crack of dawn, busy bombarding everyone they can think of with requests, instructions, suggestions, translations into French and a flea in their ear to get Carol's plight noticed and acted on.

I just happen to be knocking about on here and am able to update with news. They're the ones with their heads down, working away to get results. If I name them, I'd be bound to miss a few names and be kicking myself. As the old cliche goes....they know who they are flowers

Oh, send me to Pedants' corner!

annodomini Fri 01-Nov-13 10:34:14

Thanks, Gracesmum. I keep trying too think what more I can do!

Grannylin Fri 01-Nov-13 10:33:34

....and a huge thank you to you Gracesmum for originaly voicing on FB what we were all thinking flowers

gracesmum Fri 01-Nov-13 10:22:09

I just want to add my support and a huge hug especially to Anno and whenim who along with Greatnan's family are most in the eye of this storm. I know we are all desperately worried and longing for a happy resolution, but you 2 are, I think, the closest to Greatnan and we shouldn't forget the massive strain you are both under along with Greatnan's family. Thinking of you too. flowers

Just seen a suggestion that we put #findcarol on anything we tweet or FB. I've just done that and tweeted the Hull link.

kittylester Fri 01-Nov-13 10:08:13

Anno, when and all GN's family - you are being wonderful. All I can do is add my positive thoughts to everyone else's - which I do. sunshine

merlotgran Fri 01-Nov-13 10:08:06

Morning, everyone. I've been reading all the latest posts hoping for good news. I have to be out today but will check in ASAP. Hopefully, there will be some news today??

I thought it was a very good article in the Hull Daily Mail.

when and everyone who is closely involved - you are all stars! This just goes to show that the power of the internet/social networking groups is a force to be reckoned with when it's doing something GOOD.

Chin up everyone (notice I didn't say chins!)

grrrranny Fri 01-Nov-13 10:01:51

I have only just seen this - so worrying. I've put Hull link on FB. Just can't believe it.

Elegran Fri 01-Nov-13 09:44:57

Would you believe that I had a spam tweet as a reply to tweeting the link from the other thread to the Hull newspaper article on Greatnan?

It was a link from a Spanish-sounding name to a way to apply for jobs in the UK. Not even a covering "sorry to read that" to soften it! Have they no conscience whatsoever?

Marelli Fri 01-Nov-13 09:13:17

I too think today will be the day, Elegran. All stops have been pulled out and hope is strong.

Elegran Fri 01-Nov-13 08:56:29

If sheer willpower and wishing could find her safe and well, then the vibes from Gransnet will do it. I have a feeling that today is the day. I do so hope that it is good news. Fingers and toes all crossed.

LizG Fri 01-Nov-13 08:50:52

Should the 'Important Questions' thread be bumped up just in case anyone does think of something now after a night's rest. It is difficult to come up with new thoughts not already covered by Greatnan's family and friends. Just wish I could think of something useful.

sunflowersuffolk Fri 01-Nov-13 08:29:26

I keep sharing and adding to any FB site I think might help, + bumping on MN.

Can't do much more unfortunately, so it can't hurt to try positive thinking. I am visualising Carol being found, today, safe and well, with a story to tell. Very likely she WILL be found today, as it's a local holiday, and more people than usual out and about.

Willing her well and safe.

Marelli Fri 01-Nov-13 08:25:19

Hopefully the fact that now the trees are becoming bare of leaves, it will be easier to view from the air if a helicopter is scouting the area. Greatnan is in all our waking thoughts - I even dreamed about her last night.
when - you are a star. Yours and anno's friendship and knowledge of the countryside that you have travelled with her on your visits has been a boon. Thank you.

glammanana Fri 01-Nov-13 08:24:28

There will be a lot of families out to-day with it being All Saints Day so hopefully someone will find her whilst they are in the area,a very restless night indeed please lets hope we hear some good news to-day.when flowers & brew for you.

LizG Fri 01-Nov-13 08:22:02

Well said glass when see if you can find a bit of time for a cucumber treat and a [cuppa]. It would seem the French holiday is very well timed.

News is spreading, can't believe all your hard efforts!

bikergran Fri 01-Nov-13 08:17:00

just logged on and was hoping to see a thread that Greatnan had been found safe and well, the day is young let's hope today will bring good news.

glassortwo Fri 01-Nov-13 08:14:57

I feel positive today that with the search and the increase in numbers due to the holiday we will get some good news.
when you have worked tirelessly thank you, have a brew and put your feet up for a while, they say cucumber is good for the eyes grin

GreatGranddaughter Fri 01-Nov-13 08:14:10

Morning all, that is amazing When! Hopefully today we can encourage more locals to get out searching for her car with the day off!

whenim64 Fri 01-Nov-13 08:09:03

Had such helpful suggestions in pms, about where she might go, which local town to look at a replacement for her laptop, one person going to drive some of the mountain passes to help in the search. Amazing, amazing people you all are. flowers

moomin Fri 01-Nov-13 08:06:20

Yes, let's hope and pray today is the day she is found
