I thought it would be a good idea to open a thread where those of us who are upset by this news can comfort each other. Better to share thoughts here and leave the IMPORTANT thread for on-going efforts to find her.

I have at last got onto the Anglo info website to post. I posted in the car and driving working on the premise that the people who read that notice cars and may well be out and about. I referred them to the Facebook page as I can't copy on the ipad.

My thoughts and prayers are with Greatnan and all the family and her large gransnet family

Thinking of you,Greatnan and your family xxx

Now the police have finally mounted a search I suppose there is nothing more we can do but wait.

Anne58 Thu 31-Oct-13 18:57:38

Wish there was more I could do, I can't settle to anything, keep coming back to see if there is any news. No doubt we all feel the same.

Just a reminder - something most people can do:

1. if you have a Facebook account go to this link and "share" it so that all your contacts see it.

https://www.facebook.com/carolsheridanmissing

and/or

2. If you have a Twitter account, or know anyone who does, ask them to search for "embrace age" and find one of Bags's tweets on the subject e.g. the BBC one, click on expand and then click on Retweet. It will then go out to all the followers on the twitter account.

You don't have to mention your own life on gransnet - just say that she is a friend (or a friend of a friend).

The stress got the better of me this afternoon and I had to sleep off a headache. Must be so much worse for Carol's family. I found a photo of me and Carol standing together outside a bar in France and that almost finished me off.

Marelli Thu 31-Oct-13 18:24:50

Oh, when - that's a positive indeed! xx

whenim64 Thu 31-Oct-13 18:17:37

Something positive to keep us going! A 70 year old man who fell into a crevasse and was there for 6 days waiting to be rescued. C'mon Greatnan if a mere bloke can do it, you can hang on for them to find you!

To Carol's family - have just heard the news. Carol communicated with me on the forums, and personally, a few weeks ago giving help, advice & suggestions for the trip I was planning in Europe. I am stunned and although all I know about her is her kindness in the advice she offered, I will hold her, and you in my thoughts. May love and hope sustain you through this difficult time. xx

To everyone who has been working so hard I think you are truly wonderful and though words can't pass on what I feel, I hope you will understand anyway xxx

Penstemmon Thu 31-Oct-13 17:12:24

Glad to hear a pro-active search is going ahead now. Greatnan has been on my mind all day. I am hoping very much that there will be a breakthrough soon and that there will be positive news.

tapdancer Thu 31-Oct-13 17:03:54

celebgran Thu 31-Oct-13 16:35:43

Glad search is underway and hope for good news soon thinking of her family at this worrying time

MaggieP Thu 31-Oct-13 16:30:01

Heather, thinking of you and all your family, some of whom we hear all about on Greatnan's blogs, she always wrote such interesting news and hope there will be much more soon.
Its unbelievable she has gone missing and I hope all the rescue services are really now pulling all the stops. Its good to see the response from fellow GNs and MN and FB.

shelby75 Thu 31-Oct-13 16:24:59

Will share the posters wherever I can.

whenim64 Thu 31-Oct-13 16:23:27

Hi Heather just messaged you, but you can ignore - Mark responded first.

kittylester Thu 31-Oct-13 16:15:36

Heather, thank you for taking the time to post on here although, I imagine, you feel the need to keep 'doing' something. Keep in touch.

Treebee Thu 31-Oct-13 16:11:47

Shared on Facebook and I've liked her Facebook page. Hoping and praying for news soon.

Heather1234 Thu 31-Oct-13 16:06:06

Hello Ladies,
I am Carol's Grand-daughter Heather (And Mother her great-grand-daughters, who she absolutely dotes on!).
As you can imagine we are all deeply worried and upset. But still remain very hopeful! It is wonderful to see so many lovely people concerned and all the help received has been overwhelming!

Thank you so much!

If you haven't already seen there is a fb page set up this is the link:

https://www.facebook.com/carolsheridanmissing

Search parties have been launched!

Stay optimistic for this amazing woman!!!

sunflowersuffolk Thu 31-Oct-13 16:03:02

Terrible news, just heard, her poor family must be so worried, and at such a distance too. Have posted on FB and on any local Frenc Alps FB sites I could find. So awful it took them this long to start searching, just hope they now find her safe very soon.
