I thought it would be a good idea to open a thread where those of us who are upset by this news can comfort each other. Better to share thoughts here and leave the IMPORTANT thread for on-going efforts to find her.

Having read the post on Facebook, I think they are only requesting that people post there and don't try to contact the family directly in other ways. No problem with posting here I think. flowers

Please do the same for me [I'm also not on Facebook]. I realised a long time ago how 'real' internet friendships were.

So very sad. The news we've all feared. I was thinking about Carol a lot last night, in the night, this morning.....and like sunseeker I'm not on FB. So what I will do now is light another candle for Carol - one of rememberance this time, and of thanks for the person she was, in celebration of her life and to mark her passing into what may be an even greater light. In great sadness, but proud to be part of this community of powerful, caring women.

Done.

tanith Wed 06-Nov-13 12:10:48

My heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.

Ariadne Wed 06-Nov-13 12:09:53

We will indeed, and that's a promise. I will do it now.

sunseeker Wed 06-Nov-13 12:07:38

Fully understand the family wanting the messages of condolence to be in one place, but some of us are not on FB and this is the only place we can express our sorrow and support, perhaps those on FB could pass on our condolences.

Mamie Wed 06-Nov-13 12:05:03

Very, very sad news.

Elegran Wed 06-Nov-13 11:55:28

On the FB page, Simon asks that messages of support and condolence be restricted to the FB page. We should keep our messages for there as well. He will have a good reason for asking.

so so sad, my thoughts and sympathy go out to carols family.

Terrible news, body found. Carol died doing what she loved best after being with family. Love and sympathy to them all. flowers

I have posted the link on Carol Sheridan Missing FB page.

bluebell Wed 06-Nov-13 11:22:32

I've put it on- hope it is 'findable'

inthefields Wed 06-Nov-13 11:06:11

It would be lovely if someone would put it on the FB page.
I can't be the only one who would like to see a thousand candles burning across the world, for Carol

whenim64 Wed 06-Nov-13 10:55:52

I have four candles now - one is very low, but still shining. It's heartening to see them all, especially so widely spread across the world.

inthefields Wed 06-Nov-13 10:35:09

Glam so pleased you have relit a candle. Me too.

The candles burn for 48 hours, so if people lit a candle for Carol when the group opened on Sunday then they may want to consider lighting again today.

592 candles, from 22 countries, are now shining out as a beacon of hope, and a light in the dark hours

HMHNanna Wed 06-Nov-13 10:28:54

Love, hope and strength to Carol and her family x

bikergran Wed 06-Nov-13 10:19:50

Marelli Wed 06-Nov-13 10:03:26

Just posting the link to candles again, hope that is ok.

glassortwo Wed 06-Nov-13 09:28:06

Oh thistle I am so sorry I hadnt meant that at all, what I was trying to say was that if we are all strong together that all our our tiny candles are like a bright beacon shining for Carol. I didnt for one minute mean that your candle was insignificant.

annodomini Wed 06-Nov-13 09:27:01

I've lit another so that when the first goes out, there will still be one there carrying my thoughts with it.
