It's hard to know what to say. I keep thinking of her family.

The English-Speaking Assoc Carol refers to there hasn't posted on their website since last October, but it's clear now that Carol has not been out on a Ladies Night.

Nellie yes, we've shared that info in the first hour or so that we started to wonder where she was. Thanks.

Flickety they have sophisticated mountain rescue which is part of the emergency services, search dogs, volunteers, helpful local people who know the terrain, good communications, and walkers, cyclists and other tourists who will be alerted to watch out for her. Not sure if a St Bernard will roll up with the brandy, but their thermal search techniques in avalanches and the like are amazing. However, the weather is fine and dry at the moment, so they've got good opportunities to move about faster on the mountains.

Is this post by Carol likely to have been of any use.

The Alps seem to be full of old ladies living alone in isolated places! Last week I met a Swiss woman who lived up a cart track and had no electricity. Today, I was walking from the Col Des Arces and I stopped to check my route with a French woman working in the garden of a chalet in a remote part of the forest. We chatted for about twenty minutes and she invited me to pop in whenever I am passing! I have also found the English-Speaking Association of Haute Savoie, which has various activities, including Ladies' Nights. If I am not careful, I will develop a social life!

I can't imagine how hard this must be for her family.. come home safe greatnan.

I find sitting at home not being able to do anything practical is very hard. Everything practical that can be done at this time of night has been done. All I am doing is to keep logging in.
It was a about three a.m last night and as I had woken up I logged in. As someone else has said I hope she is not injured and frightened.

I'm off to bed now but really hoping for good news in the morning. (((hugs))) to all.

I know in the UK when these things happen planes and helicopters use fly over difficult terrain using thermal imaging to find people. Do they do the same in France?

Me too Elegran. With daylight gone and still no news, no sightings of the car, I am afraid my imagination is running riot . Need to get a grip - worrying is no help to anyone is it?

Mark Owen, her grandson has asked as many people as possible to contact any news media and also France 24. If you. And if you can do this in French it would be good. My French is a bit basic, but I know there are some fluent speakers on here.

I keep coming back to see whether there is any news.
