I thought it would be a good idea to open a thread where those of us who are upset by this news can comfort each other. Better to share thoughts here and leave the IMPORTANT thread for on-going efforts to find her.

Heather did so very well under pressure, Carol would be so proud of her.

I just saw Heathers interview and thought how well she handled what must have been a very difficult and emotional interview for her. My thoughts as I go to bed again, are for Carol and all her family and friends. May the morning please bring some good news. Take care everyone.

Heather was interviewed for ITV north-west news and spoke articulately about how Carol wouldn't go away even for a day without letting her family know.

I just watched it on the news. Makes it horribly real. Thinking of you, When x

Yes, we love wine on MN. (And gin grin )

I joined up here from Mumsnet re Carol.

I 'know' her from French forums & met her once a few years ago.

An amazing lady & I am so hoping that there is news soon.

Lona Sun 03-Nov-13 17:41:43

Yes, I think Mumsnet have been amazing, so supportive. wine (I think they like wine smile )

I think everyone on here has been truly wonderful, working so hard and keeping us informed as well. I have said to my husband that if anything of this nature were to happen to me, which is highly unlikely, he must notify Gransnet. The teamwork and support makes me proud to be a Member. Like a number of us I wish I could do more.

Mumsnet have come up trumps as well flowers

kittylester Sun 03-Nov-13 14:34:59

Well said bez.

Bez Sun 03-Nov-13 14:23:04

I am watching all these threads and hoping, hoping, hoping like the rest of you. Feel very out of it and also late as in US and have the five/six hour time lag. I am so impressed with the ideas everyone has tried and thought about. Just shows what is possible when people pull together.
Thank you ladies for making these efforts on behalf of the rest of us - it is appreciated by those of us not able to make any other contribution than share posts. flowers

Was comparing requirement of hours experience for these pilots to work in the Alps mountain rescue, but please - another place for such discussions, another time. This is about supporting the search for Carol, and reassuring concerned people of the expertise on hand.

^Nellue take a look a this website for the helicopters and pilots who work with the emergency services to do French Alps mountain rescue.

Looks like far more experience is required for them to do this work in this mountainous region than is necessary here in the UK.^
With all due respect, please do not make such rash comments without being able to substantiate them.
SAR flights in the UK are currently operated by the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, and HM Coastguard. Mountain Rescue teams are comprised of experienced mountaineers with extensive skills obtained both in the UK and overseas, and highly rated by those that know about these things!
