I thought it would be a good idea to open a thread where those of us who are upset by this news can comfort each other. Better to share thoughts here and leave the IMPORTANT thread for on-going efforts to find her.

So sorry to hear this news. My condolences to all who loved Carol.

Such sad news.
Carol was such a lovely woman, an inspiration to all Grans.
More love and support to her family, perhaps a general message to express the thoughts of so many of us who are unable to FB, as you say Ariadne

I don't do Facebook so my condolences are on here. I feel relieved that her body has been found . When I babysat in Geneva she offered to meet up because it was a very lonely situation and I was very grateful for her thoughtfulness. I must add my great respect for Granjura and all that she has done.

The very sad news that we all were dreading, what tragedy and my heartfelt thoughts and condolences go to all Carol's loved ones and friends.
I don't do Facebook either so hope GN will also be sending our messages from GN HQ?

So sad.

I have followed all the concerns about Carol since her disappearance. I am so sad to read the update. She obviously had a lot of friends on Gransnet. I am thinking of them and her family now. "No man is an island -ask not for whom the bell tolls"

Seconded and that includes you glass. Much love to you all xx

I wish I could send real flowers

Elegran Wed 06-Nov-13 12:35:46

Rereadng the FB page, I see it that way too. They do not want to be overwhelmed by direct messages of support.

This is the news that we have all been dreading, but hoped not to get. Carol was a strong woman, who always followed her path bravely, even if it was a difficult one. I believe that if she could have chosen her end, it would have been on one of her walks in her beloved mountains.

Her posts will be missed on Gransnet.

glassortwo Wed 06-Nov-13 12:34:02

Can I just say thank you to when granjura anno and all the other unnamed people who have done everything in their powers to help in the search for Carol. You are all amazing. {{{hugs}}}

Aurelia Wed 06-Nov-13 12:29:27

I think Simon is just asking that people do not contact the family directly, so it's fine to post here.

gillybob Wed 06-Nov-13 12:28:50

Such terrible news. I have never met Carol but have had many interesting conversations with her on Gransnet so feel that I did "know" her a little. She always seemed to be such a stong lady who lived her life to the full and had done more in her life than many of us will ever do. My heart goes out to her dear family and friends. xx

Sorry but I don't do facebook.

Penstemmon Wed 06-Nov-13 12:28:01

A feisty strong woman.. she seemed to live every day with enthusiasm.

JessM Wed 06-Nov-13 12:26:30

The plea on FB is for us not to send individual emails PMs etc.
She was an impressive woman who did much for others - pupils, family and I'm sure many more. In later life the way she did what she loved best was truly impressive and an inspiration.
She would have been proud and touched by the way so many people, many of the GN members, have worked and done their bit to help find her.

Bless all of you who have obviously been such a support to family and to each other.

Ariadne Wed 06-Nov-13 12:17:33

Oh yes, she certainly was!

whenim64 Wed 06-Nov-13 12:17:27

Yes, ok to post here, and condolences from GN passed to Carol's family, if you are not able to see the Missing page.

JessM Wed 06-Nov-13 12:15:18

oh! How very, very sad. She was an amazing woman.
