Am I going mad?

I went into a model railway shop today to get a cheap steam engine for a friend who wanted one to give to a relation.
I found myself looking really nostalgically at the oo gauge stock and then started looking at the N gauge stuff.
I am seriously considering getting myself a steam model railway set, either N or Z gauge. I prefer the Z but they are harder to get!
And then I wonder my 2year old DGD, prefers trains and planes and rockets to dolls etc?thlhmm

Anybody else seen the Tornado, a steam train built only a few years ago?
Last time I saw it, it was on the North York Moors Railway.

Ga-len tell the truth now, fess up, what is on the dining room at this very moment ?

Re Tornado. Earlier this year we were on a steam train at the Bo'ness preservation railway in Scotland. As it came to the end of the line, the guard announced we would be stopping for a while so we could see Tornado pass. What a sight and she sounded her whistle as she went by. I now have the sound of her whistle on my mobile. It certainly makes people jump and look when on the bus. Steam Dreams run trips pulled by Tornado. One Day(Big sigh).

A pile of magazines, the files for 4days tribunals in date order. A set of notes about PIP a large oval plate from jersey pottery depicting a salmon. The medications that have just been delivered. A Camembert baker. The charger for my luggie.
Gosh! It's practically empty!

Tornado! Had the privilege of having a day trip on Tornado. DH is a big steam fan, the trip was a present to him from the family - It was an amazing experience. The journey was lined by folk waving and taking photos. One felt like the queen, waving away at the nation!!! grin

Don't think it would fit on my dining room table though?

Just mentioned it because someone said they do not make them like that any more.
They do!

When DS wanted a train set I bought one for his sister as well, oh the happy hours we spent.
I actually used to play with real steam trains, my father built and ran them at a model engineering club. If I can find a decent quality photo I will put it on the picture thread.

Steam radio went a long time ago! Do wish you old people would make some sort of effort to keep up to date!

bikergran Sat 02-Nov-13 17:45:17
