kitty I sent you [hugs] but 1000 messages later means that we need to open an extension.

It's been a strange day. Apart from worrying about the whereabouts of Greatnan I've not been very productive. The weather is behaving in an unsettled fashion. Inky clouds, Lashing rain. The promise of a brighter sky. Please keep coming to the kitchen. I would miss the company of you lot if you stayed away. smile

soop, I started another thread too but I've asked GNHQ to delete it.

Didn't the builders do a good job and to finish it so quickly!! shock

The weather fits the general mood I think soop. sad

Brrrrh. Just back from a lovely visit to Scone Palace with friends. It was lovely and sunny, but chilly and as we drove homewards - only 40 miles - the rain came on and now it's belting it down and is very dark. What a shame for the children who want to go out Trick or Treating this evening. I had hoped to find happy news about Greatnan, but nothing so far. Everything seems to be in limbo doesn't it - all out of sorts. Perhaps a cup of tea and a choccy biscuit would go down well.

I panicked and thought something weird had happened. (((hugs))) to Nellie and Kitty flowers

soop oh I love the new extention but anything to do with soft furnishings & comfy furniture is right up my street, will bring in a couple of lovely tartan throws that I saw in matalan this week they will go down a treat, and some scented candles to add that little bit of atmosphere mmm
looks amazing.
Now where are the cakes ? I'm needing some comfort food to-day. flowers

Oldgreymare Thu 31-Oct-13 17:25:24

Posted on what is probably the now deleted thread saying that we need the comforts of Soop's kitchen at the mo.
Can't settle to anything and keep checking greatnan threads and popping (mostly silently) into soop's kitchen/ now extension, always retorative.

soop Thu 31-Oct-13 17:33:34

That's better! Coming into the kitchen to find that you lot are already making yourselves "at home" is a great comfort. A friend has just left. He brought a lovely bottle of whisky with him [to toast Mr soop's birthday in advance of Sunday, when our friend will be on holiday!] We had tea and shortbread and then we partook of the malt...I now feel less stressed. wink Please let there be a ray of good news about Greatnan when we log on tomorrow. The unknowinglyness is awful. How much worse for her family. sad
I have to leave for now. There are umpteen jobs that I've neglected to attend to. Until tomorrow, love to you all.

Like OGM I too am finding it hard to settle to anything - my bum seems to be glued to the desk chair and my fingers keep taking me back to GN in the hope that there will be a post bearing good news.
I can hardly believe that my innocent enquiry on facebook on Monday asking if anyone knew where Carol was, and then a pm to WhenIm was the precursor to this avalanche of activity. I just know I felt "something in my waters
I do like the sound of a visitor who brings his own bottle of single malt - alas never seem to get those around here! I have to make do with a cinnamon bun from Ikea (to which I am addicted, DH and I "treat" ourselves every afternoon to *just the one*) Finished the packet today - maybe another trip to Ikea......... but how to get out again without spending £200??? hmm

First coffee of the day and my waking thoughts were of greatnan how about some comfort eating today, starting with hot buttered toast.... I've popped some jam and jelly on the side to share.

LizG Fri 01-Nov-13 08:12:56

Made some bread in the breadmaker so have brought it along to share, should go well with your delicious jam OGM.

my fingers permanently stray to GN as well in the hopes of news. Having an ipad isn't good as I can check all night as well.

Last night whilst babysitting I managed to eat two delicious fish cakes and some tear and share bread. All comfort eating but it didn't work, I deservedly suffered from severe indigestion. Still a large mug of soops tea should soon put that right. Oh I do love those throws.

gracesmum Fri 01-Nov-13 08:18:01

Freshly baked bread could seriously be my undoing with proper butter and maybe some marmalade?

glammanana Fri 01-Nov-13 08:33:17

Tea and thickly cut toast sounds delish to me,just let me sit and relax after a restless night up and down like a yo-yo will just enjoy the tranquility of soops posh new extention and comfort of my friends.xx

LizG Fri 01-Nov-13 08:56:11

Feet up glamma and here is the butter, forgot it first time around but I expect soop had plenty anyway.

Lona Fri 01-Nov-13 09:15:01

I could do with a nice brew and some company please. I'm feeling rather low today and maybe hot buttered something will help smile

I think it's just Novemberitis.

Marelli Fri 01-Nov-13 09:24:56

I'm popping in too, soop. I'm bringing my breakfast with me, so just shove along a bit and let me settle in with my bowl of porridge? Will have to bring my laptop with me, so I can keep looking for Greatnan. It's good to sit with friends at a time like this. brew

thatbags Fri 01-Nov-13 09:26:14

Can I squeeze in between some of you? I think we need a group huddle.

Lona Fri 01-Nov-13 09:29:28

That's a very good idea bags.

Grannylin Fri 01-Nov-13 09:29:47

Yes, please, I want to join the hug! Got some freshly laid eggs for a late breakfast.

ffinnochio Fri 01-Nov-13 09:37:42

To sit and have the companionship of others at a time like this is good. I'll just stay quiet for a bit and enjoy being with you.

Gally Fri 01-Nov-13 09:38:01

Me too! Although I am not a very hugable person - I need the company so I shall just sit on the periphery with my toast and tea. I'll share your laptop Marelli

soop Fri 01-Nov-13 09:49:02

Here we are again, all good pals and jolly good company. A group huddle is exactly what we need,*bags*. I couldn't wait to log on to hopefully find good news of Greatnan. Thank goodness we have each other for comfort. There's porridge in the pot. I can slice a banana and spoon some runny honey over the top. Tea or coffee?
Heck! Would you credit it! A bloody huge van has pulled into the drive. Two strapping fellas are about to offload the sofa [our 25th anni' gift to each other]. Rory is hiding under a bush. I have to leave you for a while, as Mr soop has taken the car for a service, and I need to open the doors wide and shove unwanted furniture into the bedroom. Back ASAP grin

Nelliemoser Fri 01-Nov-13 09:54:24

I shall get my bowl of cereal and join you at the teapot.

Elegran Fri 01-Nov-13 10:04:40

Hi all. Not much talk of anything else on GN at the moment. Lets hope for good news today.

Talking of cereal, does anyone else make their own muesli? I have just dug out a recipe and had a go. It is very good, will bring a big imitation Tupperware box of it in. Nice with yoghurt and honey.

LizG Fri 01-Nov-13 10:07:37

Oh no, my ipad battery is running out, thank goodness my kindle is charged at least I won't be out of touch. Hope your new sofa is a great success soop . . . . Porridge, banana, honey, yummy. No mustn't I've had toast and jam already sad
