I am very tired woke up last night at about 2.30am and didn't get back to seep until nearly 5 .stuff going around in my head. I nodded off this afternoon in the chair and woke up feeling even worse. Don't be offended if I fall asleep here.

I did go out for a walk in the sunshine late morning. There is a walk just down the road that goes along an old railway line and leads onto fields over what was a landfill site. It's much nicer than that sounds.
I spent a lot of time sitting on a slightly damp wooden seat at the highest point on this site admiring the shapes of the towering storm clouds circulating the horizon. It stayed dry here. Yawn Yawn

My first car in 1970ish was a then old orange Renault 4 with rather torn canvas seats over a tubular frame. What a banger. I did become a dab hand at cleaning the carburettor jets when they became blocked with dirt.
This was after watching the AA do it a couple of times. Have screwdriver will travel!

Should have said, my DDs call me by my first name, or their variations of it.

kitty, DD2 did a similar thing from Wales once – got in touch especially to tell me she'd seen "one of Diggory's relatives". Diggory was my ancient but faithful old Fiesta. And she added: "It even had moss growing on it!"

She didn't call me mummy because she never had. Isn't it funny how they remember the old bangers with such affection?

I've been watching some thrilling tennis...Federer v Del Potro. Tomorrow, Roger plays Rafa...from 2pm on, I'm strictly unavailable. There will be much oohing and ahhing and the likes. Although Roger has been my number one favourite for a very long time, I'm now rooting for Rafa. Pity that Andy couldn't play. He's recovering from surgery on his back. He should be ready to compete early next year.

My DDs, 38 & 35 do the same if they spot one, although it's rare to see one now. A real memory maker for them.

I've just remembered, DD1 rang me other other day, in a highly excited state, to tell me she had just seen a 'mummy's car'. She had no idea what the proper name for it was but her husband was highly amused to be told to 'Look, David, there's a Mummy's car'

DD1 is 38, has a very responsible job, 2 children and hasn't called me 'mummy' for about 30 years!

We called ours the tardis after the weekend we took 3 children 9all under 4) and an Afghan hound, a collapsed cot, nappies, food etc to Wales from Shrewsbury and back again.

I think that was the weekend we decided that a 'proper car' was the only way to go. Somehow a Volvo isn't quite the same We all went in my car as DH had crashed his.

kitty. DH called it my sardine tin! One exceptionally frosty morning his car was frozen and wouldn't start but my air cooled engine started without any problem. I also managed to stuff two DDs in and a Labrador in behind them. I was heartbroken to part with it but realistically, it wasn't sturdy enough to drive children around in.

gracesmum thank you, I am glad you liked them. I have a recipe for "healthy" muffins. I gave it to one of my friends who told me the next day that the buns are excellent for the bowels!!!! I shall put it on the food forum (I have remembered what it is called).
I have a deep fat frier (£15.00 in Tescos) and I tipped it up in the garage all over the top of the deep freeze. Yes I keep the frier out of the way there.

Agus, my first car was a cream Citroen Diane but my favourite bit was the canvas roof. I cried when I could no longer fit the children and their gubbins into it and I had to have a proper car! It always had to be started in 2nd gear

soop I can well appreciate the expense of buying special diet cat food as I have to do the same for Tara. I order hers online but only when they are having a sale because of the cost. I am lucky, she loves it and is not interested in any of my food except when she hears the rustle of a cereal packet. She adores that and is given a tiny amount with milk to eat it.

We decided to buy a campervan last year to do more sightseeing at home since moving back from France. Great fun, go when we like, don't have to think about hotels or even caravan parks. Mostly park overnight by the side of a loch and waken to a beautiful view each morning. A couple of old hippies

Oh dear when that has brought back another oily memory. When I was about 13 we had a kitchen that could not be described as "fitted" by any stretch of the imagination. There was a shelf which ran right round the room, well above head height. My Dad, trying to be helpful had done the same as your MiL and put the chip pan up there, still full of oil. Mum reached up to pull it down and tipped the whole lot over herself. I never heard my Mum swear before that or after it - but she did that day!
