kitty I sent you [hugs] but 1000 messages later means that we need to open an extension.

It's been a strange day. Apart from worrying about the whereabouts of Greatnan I've not been very productive. The weather is behaving in an unsettled fashion. Inky clouds, Lashing rain. The promise of a brighter sky. Please keep coming to the kitchen. I would miss the company of you lot if you stayed away. smile

Morning baubles and the same to you. Thanks for starting the coffee this morning.

baubles Fri 08-Nov-13 06:59:14

Morning all, just dashing in for a quick coffee before work. I'll leave the pot on the hob. Hope you all have a good day, whatever it brings.

Night icy moon

Icyalittle Thu 07-Nov-13 22:48:08

Goodnight all. Thank you so very much for taking me in and letting me share.

Private fireworks have been discouraged here too. Apart from the odd few on the 5th that was it.

Lots of organised events to choose from and probably a safer option considering modern fireworks are a lot more dangerous compared to our holding a couple of sparklers round the bonfire

Tegan Thu 07-Nov-13 22:39:31

Wonder if they make ear plugs for dogs confused?

glassortwo Thu 07-Nov-13 22:33:51

Oh no tegan up here over the last few years they have tried to stamp out private fireworks, and the council encourage everyone to go to organised events and over the time it has died off. We only heard fireworks on the 5th, but when I saw the price on fireworks I can see why the kids cant afford them.

Tegan Thu 07-Nov-13 20:50:02

Came home last night to find the dog had vandalised the kitchen [more fireworks]. Fireworks now going off again tonight. Please let it go back to being for just one night sad. As it is we daren't go out for weeks on end.

It was an incredible experience Soop. Thank goodness for modern cameras, or I'd be thinking I'd dreamed it all. (I don't think anyone took a picture of me struggling to get down from the termite mound we climbed to see the lions. Thank goodness for the two young handsome guides who were on hand to help me)

Better be off now, a plate of Ryveta calls. Moind how yew go on t'gether.

Galen Thu 07-Nov-13 18:47:03

Just got back fom cuddles with dgds 1and 2! Lovely.

soop Thu 07-Nov-13 18:37:59

moon and sweet dreams to you all.

soop Thu 07-Nov-13 18:37:27

Agus THANK you. I shall delve into my wee phrase book and respond in Gaelic when I return tomorrow. Isn't it a fascinating language. The lady in the village shop [now retired] could speak Gaelic fluently. She and her husband were born on Islay. smile

soop Thu 07-Nov-13 18:32:51

Nfk What an experience for you. Botswana sounds very exotic. I would have loved the experience. There's plenty of tonic. A bottle of Sapphire gin begging to be opened. wink
OGM Your comment with reference to three pairs of knickers, made me hoot with laughter. I usually pack at least three pairs for each day I'm away. Best be safe [than awfully sorry!]
kitty Honest to goodness, you will be fine. I do agree with OGM about having to keep the mouth wide open for so long. I almost developed lockjaw. Kept me quiet during the homebound journey. Mr soop couldn't believe how quiet I was. wink

Agus Thu 07-Nov-13 18:28:40

Nfk. I only eat the salted variety, but, once I open the bag, curled up on the sofa, watching a film, I eat the lot!!!

Favourite place we go to in Oban is. EE-USK, on the pier. Delicious fresh fish. Beagh bheannachd ( eat well). Soop, it's Gaelic for Bon apetit.

NfkDumpling Thu 07-Nov-13 18:20:52

Oh, and greymare, your friend will be fine with three pairs of knicks. They dry out in a couple of hours easy!

NfkDumpling Thu 07-Nov-13 18:18:37

Ooooh, goody. I'd forgotten they would be calorie free cupcake!
Only Ryveta and Primula low fat for tea, and a glass of that duty free gin I picked up at Heathrow. I've got too many tight trousers now.

Greymare we ended up in a tent at Moremi Crossing. It wasn't your average tent though! (And the food was rather too good). Tracked - and found - lions, on foot, with guides with no guns. Brilliant!

kitty good luck with your filling - perhaps it's allowing loads of time for the pain killers to work. I have an absolute loathing of all things dental and have to have four front caps - first appointment at the end of the month. The worst thing is that it's preventative so not covered by National Health and is going to cost around £2000!

I'll leave the duty free gin on the side when I go. It doesn't go with tea and cupcakes. Is there any tonic in the cupboard?

Oldgreymare Thu 07-Nov-13 17:57:05

Nfk my friend is heading off there on Friday, a few days in a houseboat then a tent..... she only ever travels with 3 pairs of knickers so I always worry for her smile
Kitty horrible thought keeping mouth stretched open for that amount of time while someone delves around, I even hate the smell of a Dental Practice.... YUK! BIG HUGS!
LizG I live far too near to a famous factory shop ( gloves, handbags scarves etc.) and I adopt the same methods of cheering, thank goodness that, like you, I'm afraid of e-bay!
Soop, I do love your kitchen.

kittylester Thu 07-Nov-13 17:49:41

Grrrrr cupcake!!

Nobody mentioned root canal soop shock

kittylester Thu 07-Nov-13 17:47:46

The [cupcakes] in here are calorie free Nfk so it's fine to indulge. Glad you had a good holiday! sunshine

NfkDumpling Thu 07-Nov-13 17:22:11

I'll sit and ponder with you mrshat. We just got back yesterday from a fabulous holiday in Botswana and I'm (another) five pounds heavier so no cupcake for me. I've brought some popcorn though, lightly salted, as I believe it's fat free.

soop Thu 07-Nov-13 17:18:04

kitty dear, you'll be fine. Is it root canal work? Sounds like it. I coped...and so will you. smile

mrshat Rory has been waiting for a lap to cuddle up on. You stay as long as you like. It's blowing a gale outside. the sea is extremely lively rough. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the ferries are on hold.

Before I go...our bags sent a text to say that she's fine. Just busy at the moment.

mrshat Thu 07-Nov-13 17:01:40

Just popped in for a few minutes to sit and ponder quietly. It seems everyone else is busy just now but someone kindly left some cupcake and the kettle on the boil - thank you smile

kittylester Thu 07-Nov-13 16:51:44

Can I just come and have a little TLC please. I've just been to the dentist to be told that I need a filling. Fine, until I discovered that my appointment is for 50 minutes. shock

LizG Thu 07-Nov-13 14:50:20

I am too scared to use ebay soop it might run away with me smile we have limited room for handbags!

soop Thu 07-Nov-13 14:42:12

Roger Federer is playing tennis on television. Excellent game. Must dash and catch up with the score. brew cupcake ...the latter in my dreams. It's one of my fasting days, so no naughty extras allowed. hmm
