kitty I sent you [hugs] but 1000 messages later means that we need to open an extension.

It's been a strange day. Apart from worrying about the whereabouts of Greatnan I've not been very productive. The weather is behaving in an unsettled fashion. Inky clouds, Lashing rain. The promise of a brighter sky. Please keep coming to the kitchen. I would miss the company of you lot if you stayed away. smile

soop Thu 07-Nov-13 14:37:37

newist the previous owner of the restaurant would use granary bread and very tasty cheese...which both Mr soop and I enjoyed. It's worth asking if the same bread is being used. White bread doesn't work. smile

LizG Do you ever buy handbags on ebay? I've a great favourite. Just the right size, red leather and good label [I "won" it for an absolute song] wink

LizG Thu 07-Nov-13 14:29:58

Poor you Icy I hope you have recovered you composure smile Given the unusual digestive system of cows I understood cows often became tipsy OGM that's what my dad used to say and he never exaggerated!

Please can I hide here? I come bearing carrot cake albeit shop bought but a local bakery did the honours. I buy handbags if I am feeling down and my cold has taken my voice completely so I felt a handbag was called for (hope you understand what I mean). Anyway, now I daren't tell my husband so I shall just curl up in the corner here; my favourite spot. I will change my bags over and hope he doesn't notice. Saw a fabulous bag fo £75 but at the rate I buy them, can't afford funny money.

It is lovely to be in this virtual world, at least you can all hear me - and I can SHOUT grin

newist Thu 07-Nov-13 14:10:41

soop I have had coffee in the Kitchen Garden, do you recommend the toasties ?

soop Thu 07-Nov-13 14:04:25

bags is fine. She text that she was busy. No need to fret. smile

I turned to the S.O. when the trapeze artists were performing and said [this is like watching them jump the last at Cheltenham shock]. I also kept thinking 'I'm glad I'm not their mum', but then kept feeling that I was and wanted to tell them to 'come back down this minute'. Have always struggled to watch my children/grandchildren on swings; pushing them 'higher' is a job for dads and grandads I think.

Oldgreymare Thu 07-Nov-13 13:30:57

Thanks from me too Tegan.... I'd love to see them 'live'... lucky you.
just popping in while lunch is cooking..... who am I kidding.... oven chips to go with cold chicken, toms, peas and chutneys!!!!
Icylittle your apples would make a delicious spiced apple chutney.
On my walk this morning I could smell apples, they 'mush' was being carted around, it seems what is left from cider-making now feeds cattle!
Glad to see nothing is wasted but had visions of tipsy cows!

newist When in Oban, do you ever have a toastie in the deli' restaurant...'The Kitchen Garden?'

newist Thu 07-Nov-13 13:11:58

Yes soop it is a lovely area, We sometimes go to Oban for shopping passing some lovely Islands on the way

Tegan Thu 07-Nov-13 12:50:48

I watched a lot of it through my fingers; would love to take the granchildren but the characters are very grotesque and scary. Wanted to see Cirque du Soleil for years then finally got to see them do Saltimbanco in a big top in Manchester, but I've always loved the music from Alegria. One of the earliest shows they did and they're not performing it again after this year.

newist From our window I look across the sea to the islands of Islay and Jura. On a perfect day I catch a glimpse of Mull. Wonderful Argyll. sunshine

soop Thu 07-Nov-13 12:43:04

Tegan Goodness me...what a stunning performance. Thanks for sharing. smile

soop Thu 07-Nov-13 12:39:47

I had NOT finished the above message. Was still in the process of mentioning you all. All of a sudden, the 'puter decided that I'd finished. How very odd confused
Kate13 Welcome and thanks for baking us a fruit cake. Yes please. We all likes cake with lashings of butter...Rory will hoover the crumbs. He hates good food to go to waste. grin

I've just sent our bags a text message. Her landline number is engaged. She was fine yesterday. I shall report back regarding what she's up to could be baking flapjacks for us lot just as soon as I can. I've just spoken to Mr bags. She's fine. She'll be back home soonish.

As for the rest of you lot it appears that you've been up to all sorts. Icy took an early morning dip in her stream. How cooel is that! grin Don't go making a habit of it. You'll encourage chilblains. A nice warm drink and a rug around your shoulders is called for.

Gally Only a GOLD ^and a joint 1st grin I'm well impressed. We're are well impressed. flowers

I have read every message. I cannot tell you how touched I am that, although we're not actually together, it seems to some of us that we are united in spirit. Yesterday was grim. Had I not been able to share the sorrow with you, I would have possibly slipped into a depression. Anyway, we coped. We expressed our feelings and in doing so, we were comforted.

JessM you brought a smile to my face. Welsh, like the Gaelic language is to my mind, totally "foreign" and quite beyond my capabilities.

Ariadne and when and annoI liked your tributes to Carol. I shall always remember the 17 point turn on a narrow Alpine road. What a woman! grin

notso there's an extra fleece for wrapping around your chilly toes.

newist a very warm welcome from bonnie Kintyre.

biker Nellie glass notso grannyact grannylinLovely of you to call in.

Nelliemoser Thu 07-Nov-13 12:26:46

I have just called in on my way back from a walk to the village in the lovely sunshine.

I have some chocolate chip muffins in my bag. Help yourselves, there is an unending supply.

RORY!. Get your nose of that bag sweetie they are not for you. If you behave yourself I have some cat nibbles.

Kate13 Thu 07-Nov-13 12:09:44

Can I come in for some TLC. Any hot chocolate and cupcake cupcake [cupcake...?
I'm going to make a fruit cake later so will bring it along and lots of butter.

Icyalittle Thu 07-Nov-13 11:51:27

Ooh damson yogurt, lovely. I made jam. I made chutney. I made cake. Failed to think of adding them to yoghurt. Tut. How about I put a basket of apples in the corner here for anyone to help themselves? It seems the right kind of place.

annodomini Thu 07-Nov-13 11:44:39

icy, I just managed not to do that when picking damsons. The best ones overhang the stream. Such a pity. The ones I got gave me lovely damson yoghourt.

newist Thu 07-Nov-13 11:23:10

Yes please send them to the Hebrides smile

Icyalittle Thu 07-Nov-13 11:20:31

I'll email them, shall I? smile

Icyalittle Thu 07-Nov-13 11:19:32

Morning. Not sure if it is a good morning, I just sat (accidentally) in the stream at the bottom of the garden. Greed comes before a fall. I was trying to pick my apples that overhang the hedge, and slipped in the mud.
Too many apples anyway, but I hate letting them go to waste. Lovely Bramleys. Does anybody want some?

Ariadne Thu 07-Nov-13 11:09:57

Good morning, Gracesmum and anyone else tucked in a corner. Just popped in for a while rather than do the hoovering for a cup of coffee and a peaceful moment.

annodomini Thu 07-Nov-13 10:48:43

She's also very briefly on the Good Morning Thursday thread.

glassortwo Thu 07-Nov-13 10:23:42
