Sitting here on my old sofa and knitting a few rows/ checking on news of Greatnan. Mr soop should be on his way back from Campbeltown by now, ready for a night on the new sofa with his missus... and Rory. A wee nip of the hard stuff will go down a treat for you both. All curtains are drawn against the dark, cold night and hoping and praying for our friend.

I had to return just one last time before logging off. My final thought of the day and my first when I awake is for the safety of Greatnan. I think I shall join you all in a group (hug)

gracesmum treat yourself to a well deserved sherry. I shall have a wee dram very shortly. The day has been chaotic at times. However, all is well again and Rory lurves the sofa.

Let us hope that there will be positive news of Greatnan's whereabouts now that her story is in the news.

I am very afraid now now that we must fear the worst.
I know everyone is afraid to say so., but she's 73 and the weather at this time of the year is not the best!
The only glimmer I can think of, is that she has an amnesiac episode.
Sorry to be against the trend, but I am a realist and I think we must face this possibility.

So pleased your DGS2 was found safe and well gracesmum. I lost my DD on a beach when she was 4 - it is an awful feeling.
After a hard day in next doors garden I have made a Treacle Sponge and custard - a VERY rare treat. Anyone want to safe me from myself and share it ?

Galen. I think you have said what a lot of us are thinking. It's nearly a week, but we must keep hoping and think positively until we have news to the contrary. Sleep will be hard to achieve tonight, but I hope we will wake up to good news in the morning.

Galen sadly that is what I have been thinking, although hoping fervently that it will not be the case.
Greatnan is only one year older than I am. I just feel so helpless, also anxious for all her family. What a horrible time this is.

I've started a thread for trivial chat. I don't seem to be able to concentrate on anything more.

It's hard to accept. Someone that we've never met (most of us, anyway), has gone. It leaves a void.

I keep computing the risks in my head and take your point, Galen, but then I remember all the things about Carol that have impressed me - she is very ft and strong, resourceful, full of zest for life, mentally agile, well equipped for the elements because she keeps it all in her car, determined in her outlook and strength of determination that her family must not be left wondering where she can be, and I could come up with more. She's 73 but she's more like 50. I fervently hope she has survived.

So do we all!

I am sure all of us have thought the unthinkable, we are old enough to know that sh*t happens and can happen to people we know. But we mustn't give up hope as there have to be other avenues (it not mountain roads) to explore. Miracles do happen but I just wish I could be sure that everything that could be done has been done.

Apologies to all - I have just read through the posts since my last post of 15:07:19 and I am so sorry that my wording was way out of line. I did not intend to trivialise anything or upset anyone - just a bad choice of words at this time.
A brave post Galen 19:30:56 and similar thoughts have been in my head. It is hard to accept these as Carol/Greatnan is such a strong and able character and so full of life, so positive and everything else that folk are saying. Please God she will be found safe and well.

And until we know for sure there's always hope.

Yes, there is hope, Carol is not only intrepid but she's a survivor, and if there's a chance, then I'm sure she'll have done everything she can, in order to survive.

That's just how she comes across to me anyway.

I know what you mean Galen and agree it was very brave to mention it. It is likely most of us have thought like that several times today. BUT we must keep strong and keep praying/meditating. As Mrshat says 'Please God may she be found safe and well'. Please can I join in the group hug and if there is some going I could do with a glass or six.

It feels like gransnet is in some kind of shutdown tonight. All the hard work that has been done by when, anno, GNHQ and many others has achieved so much and all we can now do is wait and hope.

You've taken the words out of my mouth, merlot. I just keep refreshing the page and going to the first thread, hoping for news. As soon as I see a new name, I think there's going to be something concrete that's occurred. Just as everyone else is doing.

It is comforting isn't it - I find I don't want to switch off the laptop as I'll be saying goodnight to you all and going out into the dark night.
