kitty I sent you [hugs] but 1000 messages later means that we need to open an extension.

It's been a strange day. Apart from worrying about the whereabouts of Greatnan I've not been very productive. The weather is behaving in an unsettled fashion. Inky clouds, Lashing rain. The promise of a brighter sky. Please keep coming to the kitchen. I would miss the company of you lot if you stayed away. smile

I'll be there at 12 too. I don't think that we are necessarily being pessimistic or giving up hope by coming together in this way (is that a tautology?) to share our thoughts and fears. The essence of Gransnet is mutual support and friendship and this awful business had underlined that many times. It has brought out qualities that we may not have known of in our fellow GNetters and knowing that others are sharing our feelings is so comforting. It is so frustrating that we cannot be out in France scouring the countryside - with all our cars we could cover every inch of the roads around Greatnan's village but what we can do at a remote is being done. If Greatnan knew how we are all rooting for her she would be enormously strengthened and cheered. Pray God we can tell her one day, but in the meantime we owe it to Greatnan, her family and friends (including ourselves) to stay positive, to rejoice in her friendship and that of all of GN and for those of us who believe in the pwer of prayer - to pray.
See you at 12.

I have the house to myself this morning so will join you in quiet reflection but positive vibes.

There has just this minute been a roll of thunder.

soop Sat 02-Nov-13 11:46:45

I shall return a little later. The kitchen is cosy and even more so when we're together. flowers

I awoke at three this morning. Couldn't get back to sleep thereafter. Greatnan had infiltrated my dreams.

I've read through the many posts since I logged off yesterday. It is strange but also comforting that, although many of us have never met in person, we are in accord whenever one of our Gransnet friends is in trouble. At 12 o'clock I shall join you in a special thought for Greatnan. I've a lump in my throat as I type. Like many of you, I fear the worst.

It is a dark grey day in bonnie Kintyre. The rain is lashing down. The weather outside sums up my feelings.

Thank you all for your companionship. It matters. smile

Here are some supplies for the noon gathering.

another Mam's Boilin' Broonie - this time with a liberal splash of brandy - and just rescued from falling on the floor. I've now very sore finger-tips.

A large dish of cauliflower cheese. I added homemade horseradish sauce to the cheese sauce - so it's got a bit of a kick!

Be with you all - 1pm my time.

Somehow, bacon and eggs don't quite taste the same after they have been cooked twice. Had them on the plate, sat down, one mouthful and then the phone rang - shouldn't have answered it; 10 minutes later shoved everything back into the pan - I think I will just stick to the Weetabix tomorrow.

Grandmanorm Sat 02-Nov-13 10:05:30

I do feel for Greatnan's family. They must be going through hell. They are in my thoughts.

Grandmanorm Sat 02-Nov-13 10:03:47

I've set my mobile phone for 12 also. Like shysal I am not sure that does anything, but am happy to try anything that just might find this lady, and I shall be thinking positively!!!

Agus Sat 02-Nov-13 10:02:16

DH having some tests done at the moment but I will be with you all at 1200.

Iam64 Sat 02-Nov-13 10:01:32

I haven't popped into soop's kitchen this week, but am so glad I did this morning. I was woken early by a very achey hip, and as soon as I had a cup of tea at my side, was checking to see if there is any news of Greatnan. I'll be joining the 12 today prayers and power of positive thinking for Greatnan. I'm also sending loving and positive thoughts to her family and loved ones.

shysal Sat 02-Nov-13 09:55:23

I call myself a realist, but will join in positive thoughts at 12. It feels awful not being able to do anything. If I was in France I would be attaching posters to every available space! Yes, there are more people in the area at weekends and holidays, but if they haven't heard about Carol being missing they can't help!

glammanana Sat 02-Nov-13 09:53:19

Gally thanks for the offer to join you bacon & eggs will go down a treat but eaten with a heavy heart I'm affraid I do hope we hear something to-day,have had to take pain killers as this headache will not move three days now and not getting any better, hoping you have some relief from your jabs Gally did you have flu injection ?
mmm bacon is delish !! thanks for the invite.

Gally Sat 02-Nov-13 09:39:34

I will get my mobile to beep at mid day to remind me.
Anyone seen soop this morning? Perhaps she fell asleep on the new sofa! I have just had a jab in each arm so, as a reward, I'm going to treat myself to a wicked bacon and eggs - anyone joining me?

LizG Sat 02-Nov-13 09:37:26

smile to all

Gally Sat 02-Nov-13 09:35:22

I shall get my phone to beep at mid day to remind me.

LaraGransnet (GNHQ) Sat 02-Nov-13 09:33:38

That's a lovely idea. We will too.

whenim64 Sat 02-Nov-13 09:20:50

LizG very unlikely she is driving around or with a friend. We know who they are and they are part of the drive to support the search for her. Her car has a small petrol ank, and she always fills up via her debit card. That will leave a trace.

whenim64 Sat 02-Nov-13 09:17:34

Just been discussing this suggestion elsewhere and up popped the same idea!

Was just commenting that I have met so many people who believe in the power of the cosmos, their god, positive thinking, collective meditation or just that quiet minute of concentration, that has precipitated a surge of progress. Yes, I'll join in, too. smile

thatbags Sat 02-Nov-13 09:01:37

I like that idea too, lizg. 1200 hrs GMT it is.

Elegran Sat 02-Nov-13 08:53:12

That is a good idea, wherever we are at 12, we will be all together in spirit and willing good strong thoughts to Carol.

glassortwo Sat 02-Nov-13 08:42:49

We can zone in where ever we are liz oh sounds like a perfect present, enjoy your shopping.

baubles Sat 02-Nov-13 08:42:28

Not sure where I'll be at 12. Looking after DGDs all weekend in their house. Weather not great so just taking the day as it comes.

I'll join with you all in thought though.

On my 3rd coffee, I'll have the shakes if I don't stop soon!

LizG Sat 02-Nov-13 08:31:50

I won't be by my computer unfortunately but will set my telephone and stop to share with everyone.

Out buying GD3's birthday pressy with her mother who has a broken toe and can't drive. Fortunately I am the taxi not the buyer because GD wants doc martin boots. The more I think of this the more I need my brew
