kitty I sent you [hugs] but 1000 messages later means that we need to open an extension.

It's been a strange day. Apart from worrying about the whereabouts of Greatnan I've not been very productive. The weather is behaving in an unsettled fashion. Inky clouds, Lashing rain. The promise of a brighter sky. Please keep coming to the kitchen. I would miss the company of you lot if you stayed away. smile

The sunset is at number eleven. WHY? I cannot understand the way the upload of images works. Off to feed a hungry Rory. Daughter cat is also waiting outside for her supper. smile

Arran - I lived over the Firth from it for my first 17.5 years. The view is imprinted on my brain.

LizG Sat 23-Nov-13 07:46:32

I blame Mick. He menioned scrambled eggs on his 'wake up call' and now I have a fancy. Sadly it's not on the menu in our house but then I thought of here, so I will set to and make some. It is so good to make things here because they never go wrong; no watery eggs for us or burnt toast AND things are non fattening smile. Anyone for breakfast?

It is DD2's birthday so I guess there will be a lot of fattening eats today smile

AlieOxon Sat 23-Nov-13 08:28:19

Oh yes please Liz. How nice to eat eggs again! Lots of toast please.

I had better get up next as I am heading for a sale at the local donkey sanctuary and have to do stuff first.....I go to these sales to look for unusual presents for a sister who has (almost) everything - and I think my little GS is coming this afternoon too.

Eggs first, and a gallon of brew.

ffinnochio Sat 23-Nov-13 08:36:55

Thanks LizG. Scrambled Eggs on toast are scrummy.

The Egg Lady's hens and ducks have almost stopped laying for a while, and I haven't quite got used to buying eggs from shops again.......must add to shopping list!

Lona Sat 23-Nov-13 08:45:13

Yummy scrambled eggs, yes please.
I must be good today, I was craving some chocolate since I came home from hospital, and yesterday I went to the local Morrisons, and bought a bag of treats!!! Not like me at all, honest.

I ate quite a lot............blush

Well......................wink

Anyone for a brew?

AlieOxon Sat 23-Nov-13 09:20:10

Yes another brew please then I must get going. See you later.

Gally Sat 23-Nov-13 09:20:56

Had a b....r of a day yesterday. I am not the world's best sewer, but decided to 'make' curtains out of rugs to cover the front door. First one went ok then the machine started playing up and the thread kept tangling on the second. After 3 hours I gave up, in tears. Why on earth I started to do this a week before Oz I don't know confused. I had had my first session with a counsellor in the morning - never again, it just stirs up the past. i will just have to deal with it myself! Bad week - John's birthday tomorrow and our 40th Anniversary next week so it's all coming at once sad. Anyway, onward and upward, today's another day.....pass the eggs!

It must be so hard facing all that, but you did it last year and you will get through it again.
It gets wearing being strong all the time, but at least you've got 'us lot' to share it with you.

Agus Sat 23-Nov-13 09:48:44

Just keep the picture in your head, arriving at the airport in OZ, only a few more sleeps now. Chin up Gally, you can do it.flowers

annodomini Sat 23-Nov-13 10:17:29

Gally (((((big hugs))))). Your stay in Oz will do you so much more good than the counsellor.
I felt energised yesterday so braved M&S to find the scarf recommended for my DiL's Christmas present. I rather like it myself. Gloves for DG1 and a birthday card for GS (6 next weekend). Just finished breakfast, but could find room for another brew. Shall I put the kettle on?

Sending (((hugs))) and flowers Gally, you are doing really well and it will soon be OZ

You are right Lona it is hard keeping strong all the time. Thank goodness for this space where it's possible to relax.

janeainsworth Sat 23-Nov-13 10:59:01

Gally I hope today is better and the sun melts some of your sorrow, as that poem says.flowers

bikergran Sat 23-Nov-13 11:00:28

and we will be awaiting your "tales of adventure" smile

soop Sat 23-Nov-13 12:12:38

janeainsworth I love those words. Gally B*** the curtains. They can wait. I just wish to say... very well done. sunshine

Thanks, anno I'd love a cup of coffee. Has that bags left a tin full of flapjacks for us to munch on? wink

celeb you live up to your name. Good for you. smile

Lona I bought a large bag of nuts yesterday. I've been visiting the cupboard ever since...convincing myself that "just one" will be enough. I may have to ask Mr soop to hide the bag. I'm such a "saddo" when it comes to rationing my intake of chocs or nuts or dates or figs. hmm

soop Sat 23-Nov-13 12:17:11

The builders [virtual, naturally] will be finishing the new kitchen extension today. I hope that you lot will continue to enjoy meeting there for our Granspal sessions. It wouldn't be the same without you. grin flowers

Gally Sat 23-Nov-13 13:38:35

Thanks girls: I have spent the morning hand sewing the heading onto the 2nd 'curtain'. I was determined not to be beaten, so one more tick on my list.
Lovely words Jane. I am going to google them once I have disentangled myself from 3 rugs. wink
It's a glorious sunny day so after I have eaten my salmon and dill fish cake while listening to Any Questions, I shall blow the cobwebs away with a walk along the beach.

Galen Sat 23-Nov-13 13:46:58

I still in bed! It's nice and warm. The rest of the house is freezing! CBA to get up and lay and light a fire. I've just made some hot chocolate. Does anyone else want some? Gally flowers it will be better once all the first anniversaries are over. I try to make sure I'm working on most of them, sometimes now I don't even remember them

Galen Sat 23-Nov-13 13:49:06

Is it warm in oz?envy

janeainsworth Sat 23-Nov-13 13:56:20

Gally the poem is 'Sometimes' by Sheenagh Pugh. Soop originally posted it on here and I loved it, printed it out and look at it often. x

soop Sat 23-Nov-13 14:32:16

Oh yes...I remember posting the poem. It is beautiful and comforting.

This is the 1000th entry in this kitchen. I'm about to open the door to the new extension. Kettle will be whistling a merry tune. Date slices, warm from the virtual Aga to be shared with you lovely lot ...see you soon. flowers
