kitty I sent you [hugs] but 1000 messages later means that we need to open an extension.

It's been a strange day. Apart from worrying about the whereabouts of Greatnan I've not been very productive. The weather is behaving in an unsettled fashion. Inky clouds, Lashing rain. The promise of a brighter sky. Please keep coming to the kitchen. I would miss the company of you lot if you stayed away. smile

What is the weather like in Carol's region of France? The milder it is the more chance she has of survival if she is lying in some forlorn area where there is no signal for her phone.

Sorry but I am being realistic now.

glassortwo Sat 02-Nov-13 08:19:57

Yes good idea liz a coming together at 12, and send positive thoughts.

Woke up feeling sad, I'm usually a very positive person. Must shake off the gloom and start to think positive thoughts..... will think super-positive ones at 12 noon.

Morning all, anyone for a nice strong cup of Ringtons and a slice of hot buttered toast, I feel like a need a boost this morning.

grannya sorry to hear that you have been ill, hope your feeling better. flowers

LizG Sat 02-Nov-13 08:00:42

Bit delayed ga but if you should pop in here today, it would seem you are feeling a little better. Hope you didn't overdo things with your jaunt downstairs and that the improvement continues flowers.

One thing that keeps buzzing around in my head - if greatnan's car has not yet been found she is probably driving around in it. Has she gone visiting one of her many friends and because they are in an out of the way place not been able to make contact or known about the fuss. Have trawled through her later posts to see if there is any indication whatsoever of such a jaunt.

Lets give her a collective thought and prayer at 12 noon to make contact. Sorry don't know about different times so this has to be English can't remember if France is two hours or one after us now. I know this sounds silly but desperately need to do something.

I will pour myself out the hugest mug of tea you can imagine but don't think I am ready to eat just yet. brew delicious!

Lona Sat 02-Nov-13 07:36:47

Shall I make some fresh brew, my head is throbbing. I was hoping for some news this morning.
Her family must be going through hell.

Sod it, I'll make some toast for us too.

Mamie Sat 02-Nov-13 07:09:58

It feels frustrating not to know how the search is going, what is happening in the area. We can't really ask the family though, I guess. I am sure that if it is in the French local news it will help find the car, but can't see any evidence that it is.

Marelli Sat 02-Nov-13 06:22:57

Scanning Facebook and back here for any updates - not that any news is likely from through the night. Made tea and fed Daisy the Cat. Another day of waiting.

Hannoona Sat 02-Nov-13 06:12:27

I'll have the tea pls, my second cup of the day, but I'll say no thank you to the toast as I have just scoffed a croissant and scrambled egg left from yesterdays family brunch. It was great but still has a long way to go to beat a fried egg on a slice of white cotton wool bread.

Gagagran Sat 02-Nov-13 05:39:14

Morning - glad to be with friends in Soop's kitchen. Just made a pot of tea and some toast for anyone who fancies it. Can't believe there's still no news from France and my imagination won't be still.

Ariadne Sat 02-Nov-13 05:21:15

Morning, Baubles, that coffee smells good. Can I have a very large mug, please?

Achy knees woke me up, then I had to come downstairs just to check. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

baubles Sat 02-Nov-13 05:14:39

Morning all, Just getting the coffee on. Another restless night for many, I'm sure.

Like everyone else I seem to be in limbo. Have been ill in bed most of the week, compulsively refreshing my iPad to see if there's news, but got dressed this afternoon and spent the evening downstairs. I'm in the fortunate position of having been able to be very open with family and friends about my involvement with Gransnet, and as a consequence have had lots of calls from them saying they've read about my Gransnet friend and wondering if there's any news. It's so good that we can share our concerns on here. But I do feel very, very sad this evening. Her poor family.......sad

Night when (((hugs)))

whenim64 Fri 01-Nov-13 23:38:01

glass Aldi Toro Loco Tempranillo, brilliant wine, still under £4 and judged better than £30 Marks and Spencer Barolo. We buy lots of it when it's spotted on the shelves.

Just had a milky drink, then thought 'oh bugger it!' and poured myself a rather large gin and tonic. Feeling squiffy, but I know I will soon drop off.

Carol Sheridan - you will be answering a lot of questions when we get our hands on you! (I sincerely hope!) Night all! moon

glassortwo Fri 01-Nov-13 23:14:29

LizG Fri 01-Nov-13 23:00:45

Galen Fri 01-Nov-13 22:55:18

No! Not braver. Just realistic and pragmatic. I feel if one is prepared for the worst, anything else is good!
I would point out, I'm not a pessimist.

LizG Fri 01-Nov-13 22:55:05

Thank you ladies for the drink my eyes are drooping. See you tomorrow, hopefully a better day.

merlotgran Fri 01-Nov-13 22:53:39

I'm glad you said what you did, Galen. Nobody wanted to be the one to go for the worst scenario.

glassortwo Fri 01-Nov-13 22:53:04

galen you are just braver than the rest of us. smile

Galen Fri 01-Nov-13 22:51:42

Sorry folks. But I think it's better in the open than just lurking!
