kitty I sent you [hugs] but 1000 messages later means that we need to open an extension.

It's been a strange day. Apart from worrying about the whereabouts of Greatnan I've not been very productive. The weather is behaving in an unsettled fashion. Inky clouds, Lashing rain. The promise of a brighter sky. Please keep coming to the kitchen. I would miss the company of you lot if you stayed away. smile

I'll be joining in too. I'm so amazed at those wonderful GNetters who have been so resourceful and determined - I'll be sending up a prayer of thanks for that.

soop Sat 02-Nov-13 12:00:03

It's almost 12 o'clock. Dear Greatnan good vibes are winging their way across cyber-space.

soop Sat 02-Nov-13 12:05:37

The storm is moving on. The sky is a little lighter. The sea is a beautiful shade of green. I feel hopeful. Re-energised.

The coffee is freshly brewed. There is a plate of cookies [not home-baked] but delicious just the same. Lots of room for everyone to sit and share a group smile x

Dear Lord. Let her be safe,

Gally Sat 02-Nov-13 12:08:52

Let's hope our mutual prayers and thoughts have done the trick.
Come back to us Carol.

A part rainbow appeared a short time ago. I may have captured the image on camera.

I shall add a pic of Rory and one of the lads who eventually hauled the sofa through the window [having taken the glass out of the wooden frame]...they did a swell job. One was in fact a carpenter/glazier. We were so lucky that the removal men happened across him as he was doing a job in Muasdale [not too far away]. Otherwise, we could be living in heap until well into next week, as not many carpenters work at the weekend.

gracesmum Sat 02-Nov-13 13:16:33

A bit crowded in your kitchen at 12 soop I hope the new sofa is none the worse for so many GNetters on it at the one time!!

glammanana Sat 02-Nov-13 13:23:32

Cute pic of Rory hiding his head from the ongoing work surrounding him,he will no doubt emerge when the work has finished and his home comforts are restored back to normal,he is a beauty isn't he ?

kittylester Sat 02-Nov-13 13:35:53

I sent positive vibes to Greatnan at noon whilst making brunch for DH and DS1 who are now on their way to the football - quite surreal.

Any tea on the go? I'm ready to sit down and be peaceful for a while. sad

Gally Sat 02-Nov-13 13:46:02

Love the pic of Rory - he obviously couldn't face all the goings on - he looks positively embarrassed.
Just as well you have decided to stay put soop. It would be a real pain having to remove the window again to get the sofa out grin

glassortwo Sat 02-Nov-13 15:54:21

Thank goodness we are up and running again I had brought some hot scones along with jam and cream, they are slightly cool now but help yourselves.

grannyactivist Sat 02-Nov-13 15:59:41

Anybody else feel completely frustrated at not being able to log on to GN? It was driving me barmy. Need a brew and some company now.

LizG Sat 02-Nov-13 16:02:38

Now we know how many people in soops kitchen it takes to bring down Gransnet. Ooops! Thank goodness we are back.

mrshat Sat 02-Nov-13 16:03:18

Just logged on and dropped in for some company and news. Heavy heart that there is no positive news and I missed the 12 noon united vibes. However, sending positive thoughts on a regular basis and just hoping she will be found soon. Had the unexpected delight of looking after 2 DGDs this morning (until 15.00), thus late log on. Greatnan mentioned in a small paragraph in the DT this morning. sad

glassortwo Sat 02-Nov-13 16:05:36

Good to see you mrshat nice surprice having the DGDs today.

I felt sure we had blown GN up.

merlotgran Sat 02-Nov-13 16:07:06

Just plonked myself down with a cuppa having finished all my Saturday driving DH about chores. No news and once again it's soon going to be dark sad

glassortwo Sat 02-Nov-13 16:10:33

I have come to dread the light fading without any news.

soop Sat 02-Nov-13 16:11:03

glass I echo your feelings. Being "cut off" from you lot was not a good thing. I'm much happier now that normal sevice has been resumed.
Gally Don't even think about the possibility of having to move that sofa for a second time. Mr soop and I are just thankful to have it with us [and not in the bathroom] perched at a very awkward angle. We had to open the loft trap door [in the bathroom] in order to keep it sort of upright! Rory is a very happy cat. I've put my favourite tartan wool rug over the end section of the sofa. Bless him, he is sitting on that area. The sofa is natural linen. hmm The cat is black. The cat comes in with dirty feet. The cat doesn't know the meaning of the words...don't sit there, Rory! wink
kitty I've made a pot of fresh tea. Would you like a date slice? If so, I shall need to motor to Lochgilphead in order to buy a batch.
Gracesmum The walls of the kitchen expand and contract, depending on the number of visitors. The sofa is perfect for a gathering of Granfriends. Lovely to see you.

Marelli Sat 02-Nov-13 16:14:07

mrshat, I missed the 12 noon vibes and prayers. I sat here later on with a bit of music playing and thought of her and wished her safe. Wherever she may be.

soop Sat 02-Nov-13 16:15:21

grannyactivist I felt sure that there would be some hopeful developments during the GN closedown. Cannot give up hope. sunshine
mrshat and merlotgran I've a box of delicious dark chocs lurking in the cupboard. Help me to eat a few one or two. wink

soop Sat 02-Nov-13 16:15:50

Marelli flowers

merlotgran Sat 02-Nov-13 16:19:21

soop, Oh, the calories, the calories! Go on, then. blush

grannyactivist Sat 02-Nov-13 16:23:04

A gathering of Granfriends.....I like that soop. smile

Galen Sat 02-Nov-13 16:26:17

Just sat down after making apricot shortbread to take up to Gloucester on Monday when I go to see my new DGD.
Does anyone have any tips for rolling shortbread dough into a 20cm square as the recipe demanded? In the end it was a mosaic of small piecessad

LizG Sat 02-Nov-13 16:26:41

Granfriends I like that soop Granfriends; it has a ring about it. Please may I sneak one of those delicious chocolates?

My daughter bought her soon to be teenager a pair of white doc martin boots and a Cath Kidston handbag. A far cry from the roller skates I had at her age.
