I started to make some flapjack this morning. Butter melting, sugar weighed, nuts and seeds ground, tin lined with baking parchment, oven heating up...

...no oats

all is on hold.

My aunt once ran 1/2 a mile after a bus in the rain to retrieve her umbrella. She asked the conductor if she had left a red spotted umbrella on the bus. He replied 'Like the one you are holding madam' Oops

Should I do that with my bras, ga? smile

grannyactivist Tue 05-Nov-13 11:32:00

Printmiss have you checked that your daughter hasn't got your glasses? I wear mine on a string thing now because I used to lose them so frequently.

Ariadne Tue 05-Nov-13 11:31:44

Seem to have lost a bra......???

harrigran Tue 05-Nov-13 11:29:25

Last time GD was staying the front door keys, quite a big bunch, went missing. Hours of searching the house and we found them in the piano stool confused

AlieOxon Tue 05-Nov-13 11:18:16

Last time I lost my glasses I found them the next day tucked in the bottom of my bed!
Huh?

Mamie Tue 05-Nov-13 10:56:47

I have made a banana, cranberry and walnut loaf and cut out a skirt. It is still raining here, not quite "comme une vache qui pisse", but constant drizzle. The car is covered in that divine mixture of mud and cow poo that is a special feature of motoring in rural Normandy.
Oh and I can't quite finish Candy Crush 399.

Flowerofthewest Tue 05-Nov-13 10:55:21

My mother threw her teeth down the loo with the loo paper????!!!!! and flushed them

Flowerofthewest Tue 05-Nov-13 10:54:19

Love it, wonder why Widow, did she do away with the male one wonders

thatbags Tue 05-Nov-13 10:49:04

Took some minutes at a meeting last night. Came across this in my notebook by Minibags, no idea how long ago:

- issue fine to Widow Warbler [yes, 'widow' not willow]
- refusing to pay
- custody = son
- son missing
- egg

Wondering if it turned into a story at school. grin

Stansgran Tue 05-Nov-13 10:40:04

Have you looked to see if your DH is wearing them Printmiss?

Icyalittle Tue 05-Nov-13 10:21:32

Love this thread, it is just what is needed.

Did you try the OUTside kitchen windowledge Printmiss? I lost my purse there for a whole day - I presume I took it to do the bins (mystery as to why).
petallus buy the silk pillowcase! Live for the day, that's what I've learnt from everyone over the last week. flowers to all.

Nelliemoser Tue 05-Nov-13 09:38:43

Any small grandchildren around Printmiss?
In a bathroom?
In the fridge? oops youv'e tried that
By the kettle?
Top of your head?
Under the bedclothes?
In daughters possession?
In hubby's possession?
Your Bowls bag?

I am so glad I have varifocals or I would spend hours looking for mine. I did have to get the spares out the car the other morning until mine appeared.

I hope they turn up soon.

Gally Tue 05-Nov-13 09:32:08

I usually keep mine on the top of my head and then when I bend over, they fall off so I pick them up and put them 'somewhere' - on the bed, by the basin, next to the washing machine or whatever - and then spend the next 24 hours searching for them which is why I now have about 5 pairs on the go and sometimes they are all missing at once grin. Perhaps someone should invent a call sound in the arm of the specs, so we could whistle for them!

Elegran Tue 05-Nov-13 09:24:32

Have you looked on the bathroom windowsill, or the top of the loo cistern? Not if it is an overhead one, natch.

Stansgran Tue 05-Nov-13 09:12:13

I usually drop my keys in with my neighbour before we go away but she wasn't in and our airport run came so I put the keys in a safe place. Been back two days and been through ALL my safe places. Found them in the handbag I travel with when I emptied it this morning. Telling myself I have too many possessions and it would be easier to find things.

PRINTMISS Tue 05-Nov-13 08:58:12

All of the above, with negative results - I am about to go through everything again! Watch this space!

Zephrine Tue 05-Nov-13 08:51:44

What did you do with the paper, did you drop it in a bin and send your glasses with it?

LizG Tue 05-Nov-13 08:40:39

The knitting bag by the side of your chair; the kitchen dresser; the window ledge in the kitchen? These are the places I usually find mine!

Brendawymms Tue 05-Nov-13 08:22:35

What was the first thing you did after finishing the crossword printmiss. That's May be the place to look or in the pockets of whatever you were wearing. I have searched for my glasses at times getting more and more frustrated, only to find them on my head!

PRINTMISS Tue 05-Nov-13 07:56:41

On sunday afternoon I sat with my daughter and finished off the cross-word, that is the last time I had my specs. They have disappeared off the face of the earth - yes, I have looked under the cushions (masses of crumbs!) under the chairs (ditto!), in the fridge, the microwave, the oven, the bread-bin, NOT A SIGN, fortunately I am not desperate for them, but cannot read for too long without them, so WHERE ARE YOU SPECS?

pinkprincess Tue 05-Nov-13 00:24:44

Thankyou glass and harrigran.

I am a night owl as well, must of been all those years I worked night shift.
Hope you are all keeping well.
