I started to make some flapjack this morning. Butter melting, sugar weighed, nuts and seeds ground, tin lined with baking parchment, oven heating up...

...no oats

all is on hold.

I had the idea of wrapping my pillow in an old silk dressing gown. Very nice to sleep on and hair is not sticking up but I need a longer trial before splashing out on the real thing at John Lewis.

Lovely news ga smile

My little, just 2, granddaughters have been looking at their first words book with daddy. 'How's a toddler supposed to know how to say 'steamroller' he complains to mummy. 'Thteamroller' pipes up little one, shortly after followed by 'thylophone!' Silly daddy! grin

Good news, ga. My eldest DGS is doing the rounds of Uni open days at the moment so I have all this to go through. Oh, how we want to be happy and successful

Boast Alert!!!
My youngest son, who was homeschooled two days a week is now at Uni studying for an Engineering degree. He just got 91% for his first exam. He's had a really tough time since starting at Uni as he separated from his long term girlfriend on the first day of term. I'm so pleased he's got off to such a good start with his course. smile

I shall seek out the tea towels and use my vote.
I don't have a silk pillow case petallus but have read the likes of Madonna and others use them daily as they iron out wrinkles. £35 sounds reasonable, compared to a full lift or Botox. grin

I agree with you Gally, being new here I have been moved by everyone's love and concern for Greatnan. Turning my pooter on the first port of call is gransnet at the moment.
Reading of all the work so many of you are doing in the search for Greatnan I hope everyone is managing to get some sleep.moon
Off to bed with the book club And the Mountains Echoed.

Marelli are you a Dougie fan. I love him - he used to come south to our local folk club - the last time was about 10 years ago I think.

Just spent a happy hour looking at research based evidence about how soon and how actively to start physiotherapy and when to reduce the time I should wear my sling following my shoulder tendon repair.

My initial browsing gave some very conflicting results and varying time scales to start physio and reduce wearing the sling.

The most up to date study paper's conclusions suggested there was no statisically significance difference in long term outcomes, for either early or slightly delayed rehab (2 weeks or so) groups.
However patients might be more compliant if its delayed long enough to let the initial pain and inflammation reduce. Well that suits my way of thinking, they are too bloody painful today.

Off to stuff myself with the night time's pain killers. I think I might have finally cracked how to get a relatively full nights sleep. My day time intake avoids the really hard stuff.
Try to get some sleep fellow worriers.

Flippin'fireworks have started already, and at this time of night. My cat has retreated to the baby's bouncy chair and the other is snuggled up with my DDH

Flowerofthewest Fri 01-Nov-13 22:58:41

Oldgreymare, you certainly are not the only wrinkly to fancy him - I think he is lovely

petallus Fri 01-Nov-13 22:53:26

I've just watched Melancholia, a Lars von Trier film. Very moody and surreal. Just up my street.

glassortwo Fri 01-Nov-13 22:33:23

Done it wink
I have spent lunch time trying to please a 29 week pregnant DD who is 30 tomorrow, trying to find a place to eat lunch that fit her criteria, and where we ended up was c**p but never mind the DGC loved it.

Just come across this thread, so I'm harking back to the second post to remind OGM that it is a waste of time fancying Chris Packham.

Doing daft things in the kitchen - I have set the coffee filter machine going without various ingredients, no coffee, no water, and once no jug to catch the coffee. I went away after switching it on, came back to a kitchen swimming in coffee.

Frannygranny Fri 01-Nov-13 21:44:55

You can find it either in the latest newsletter or in Competitions, on the right side under latest news, about the third point down (hope that's correct).

bikergran Fri 01-Nov-13 21:39:03
