Not only am I without a boiler, a house that lookalike a tip and a needs a good clean right through, new carpets, and redecorating, but last night, on my way to bed when:-

GRAUNCH,! THE STAIR LIFT JAMMED HALFWAY UP.

I suspect the heating men dropped something into the works, I'm hoping its repairable , but I feel not. I'm waiting for the lift man to come.

I feel ready to throw myself under a bus!

Charleygirl, that`s the problem, our stairs are very narrow and steep, my knees touch the opposite wall on the way up and down, I think I`d find it very difficult to get off it if it stopped!

number please mine died 1/2 way up a few months ago and I found it difficult getting out of it safely because of the direction it is facing. My saving grace was that it is a modern house and the treads are broad otherwise I could have had a nasty accident.

I suggest that you practice getting out but stopping the chair on the bottom rung for safety.

Hope you weren`t stranded halfway up the stairs overnight Galen! I`ve often wondered what would happen if our stairlift failed, touch wood it`s not happened yet! I hope all goes to plan today, and that your heating gets even more tropical!

Must feel like the goddesses are against you at the moment Galen. How about a Gransnet work party to blitz the house & decorate. I'm sure we have a few boiler fitters & stairlift menders in our midst. As long as we don't have to wear tight Anneka Rice outfits. Hugs.

Oh Galen that must have been the last straw. Hope it gets sorted out very soon.

Galen You really are having a s* time right now. I hope they soon get it sorted. (((hugs)))

Charleygirl Fri 22-Nov-13 12:08:16

Galen your stairlift has survived very well. I have had mine 4 years and it has had 2 major repairs which hit my pocket.

harrigran Fri 22-Nov-13 11:45:29

Galen (((hug))) and flowers Sometimes it feels as if everything happens at once.

Galen Fri 22-Nov-13 11:28:55

No! I was discussing with lift man a couple of months ago as it was getting very rickety that a new one was on the cards. I've had it over 10years and it was secondhand to start with.

Mishap Fri 22-Nov-13 11:23:59

Stay well away from buses! Sorry to hear of your disastrous day - hope you get it ll sorted soon.

Charleygirl Fri 22-Nov-13 11:17:45

Galen my house is insulated to a level that 17C is normal for me here.

Cna you not extract some cash out of the workmen to help towards paying for a new stairlift? I am well aware of the problems and cost as I have one also.

"When cock-ups troubles come they come not single spies but in battalions..."
has always been a favourite quote because it is just so true. I am somewhaat relieved to hear things are "in hand" and hope it all gets sorted out VERY quickly. If not, could you book into a luxury hotel and claim on the insurance - or better still, against the heating men?
