Shopping at the Co-op

We have a small local Co-op convenience store, and while I still have to go elsewhere for some items, I'm going to the Co-op more now because I can walk there if there's not much to carry, and even if I have to take the car, it's only 5 minutes drive away.

Today I spent £41.80. I had coupons from the Co-op to the value of £7.20, so that brought the spend down to £34.60.

Then they gave me a coupon for £1 off fruit and veg, a £4 coupon off if I spend £40 within a week, and another £4.20 coupon to use any time before Christmas. The coupons can all be used together.

It's enough to make me feel Christmassy. Why go to Tesco?

My nearest "supermarket" is a Co-op too, janeainsworth. They seem to be making a real effort with discount coupons at the moment. I got a letter (yes, I do have one of their membership cards) last month to say that this is because there's no divi this year as they didn't make a profit (blame the fiasco with the Co-op bank.) But I seem to be quids in, my coupons have been worth more than my average divi smile I just hope they're not miscalculating!

I didn't know that about the divi, pam but I'm taking advantage of their very good wine offers too which compensates as well smile

We have a small Co-op self service as our village shop, not sufficient for a full shop but DH goes there everyday to get papers and a fresh bread roll for breakfast and we pick up all our extras there.

Our Co-op in the East of England is very successful. We live 2 minutes walk from a medium sized supermarket so I am in there most days and the quality and prices are excellent. My annual divi pays for Summer treats.
They are starting a shop and we will deliver service soon, so I may be spending more soon as I will not have to carry the bags myself!

I think the CO-OP will have to do a lot of PR work given the Banking Arm problems. Whether or not the Retail Division is run the same as the Banking Arm is nothing to do with the reputation shock the CO-OP is obviously suffering.

At this time of year the CO-OP sends out it's next year calendar which always has offers inside I know but I think it will be going the extra mile to keep their customers onside so I would hazard a guess there will be plenty of incentives to keep shopping there.
