You know they say time passes faster as you get old? Well, just the other day my first granddaughter was born, to my impossibly young third child. She's very beautiful and good and clever and I looked forward to long years of precious childhood...
and here she is, 17 and has passed her driving test!
How did that happen? <sobs>

Today while I was rummaging through Christmas stuff I found my mothers headscarf. Taken off the coat hanger not long after she died in 1979. I took it because it smelt of her. Of course her smell has gone now. It just smells musty. But it made me think of how time has flown. She died when her first grandchild, my first was a baby. He's now married with 4 children. She would have made a lovely nanna but a horrible MiL and she wouldn't have given a jot. I remember how much she loved my son but had so little time with him. Whereas I have 8 grandchildren the oldest 18 this year and so will be well remembered
