Morning Mick, a dark blustery morning here but forecast for a mix of sun and cloud, just wish the wind would die down.

Nelliemoser Mon 16-Dec-13 07:32:55

Still dark outside but it sounds calmer now. In Cheshire I was woken up at about 3am by the most dreadful noise.
This turned out to be a fierce squall of wind and rain lashing hard against my bedroom window. It sounded dreadful.
I will wait until it gets light to see what the weather looks like now.

thatbags Mon 16-Dec-13 07:35:43

Countdown to winter solstice and The Shortest Day: five.

Brendawymms Mon 16-Dec-13 07:36:55

Wet, windy and dull in East Sussex. In fact it is very windy but mild. The temperature outside is 10c. Another sleepless night, a couple of hours of crochet to undo I have decided. Blast.angry

Now its a little lighter, its wet and windy outthere.
Mick

Thatbags Or any other Scotland dweller's what are the sunrise and sunset times with you up there in Scotland right now? It's the Geographer in me that wants to know!

LizG Mon 16-Dec-13 07:44:48

Good morning Mick and everyone. Glad the weather is a bit calmer now Nellie . Shame about your crocheting Brenda but I do admire anyone who can do it and hope your project comes out well in the end. Roll on the 21st thatbags then summer is on its way sunshine

Lona Mon 16-Dec-13 07:45:17

I hate dark mornings, so bring on the shortest day and let's get counting down to summer! grin

My friend starts her next lot of chemo tomorrow, so we're out for lunch later. She is an amazingly positive person, I'm so glad I've got her in my life.

My ds had a bleed in his bad eye over the weekend which we're hoping will not be too serious. [worried mum emo]

sunshine soop should be home later too smile

ffinnochio Mon 16-Dec-13 08:11:20

I opened the shutters to a low and golden sunlit garden. Raced for camera.

NfkDumpling Mon 16-Dec-13 08:21:48

Winter is dead 'orrible' only just woken up. Squally and wet over night and still black clouds to the west..... But a lovely apricot sky to the east (not sure what that portends)

Kiora Mon 16-Dec-13 08:37:27

Morning all. Grey but mild at the moment here in Kent. Due to change if you believe the BBC. Lona I hope all goes well for your friend. I bet she feels lucky to have you to. Hope you d.s is ok. My own son had a problem with his eye a few years back and was seen by the magnificent specialists in east grinstead all is now well you'd hardly know there had been a problem. Is the crocheting to help you sleep Brenda. I'm with you thatbags never mind Christmas I just want spring.

AlieOxon Mon 16-Dec-13 08:39:48

Mornin' - very dark here. I feel GLOOMY and not very well.
I hoped Dave would come and start fixing patches on outside walls - but it looks like rain rain rain.
I have woken up with a temperature again.....same like for the last ten days. I've had a bad throat and cough and it isn't going away, and at the same time, connected or not, a colitis flareup.
I find I feel better by the evenings, but I should, I think, ring the doctor.

Today is yuk.

PRINTMISS Mon 16-Dec-13 08:41:51

Likewise Nfk and it is wet, wet, wet, although not heavily so. Good morning all, I am going to show the vacuum cleaner around today, but not a lot else on the agenda. Must try to finish my grand-daughters embroidery picture I had planned as a Christmas gift, it keeps 'morphing' and looks entirely different from the original project, oh well! Enjoy your days.

Charleygirl Mon 16-Dec-13 09:00:35

It is dark, very wet but thankfully mild here in London this morning. I have been chomping my way through the freezer for ages so that I had space to buy the odd treat for the dreaded day and beyond so I must do that today at the local M&S foodstore.

thatbags Mon 16-Dec-13 09:21:30

nelliem, 0846, 1544 today.

thatbags Mon 16-Dec-13 09:22:11

Though actually the sun goes behind the hil behind us a little after one o'clock.

thatbags Mon 16-Dec-13 09:23:23

lona, have a good time with your friend and I hope your son's eye is OK.

Granniepam Mon 16-Dec-13 09:32:50

We've finished with wet and windy here now and the sun is making an appearance, hooray! Have started listening to classical music on the radio at wake up time (instead of grumpyR4) and I'm so much happier. I would never have believed it could make such a difference. smile

Agus Mon 16-Dec-13 09:42:49

Sorry to hear you are feeling so rotten Alie. I'm sure a lot of the reason for people feeling unwell has a lot to do with this time of year which can be very wearing. No matter how much I am determined not to get caught up in the hype, as soon as I leave home, the atmosphere at all shops etc. is that of a mad frenzy. One twit yesterday missed reversing into my car by an inch as he was losing patience with another driver, so just shot out without realising I was there! Hope you feel better soon.

Elegran Mon 16-Dec-13 09:47:06

Nelliemoser see my thread at www.gransnet.com/forums/science/1203056-Dark-mornings-and-afternoons for sunrise/sunset times in various places on 20 Dec. Is that near enough?

I have put in a link to the page I found them, where you can enter co-ordinates of other places too.

annodomini Mon 16-Dec-13 09:53:37

Poor you, Alie. If you've been so poorly for ten days, don't you think it's about time to contact your GP? Take better care of yourself!

Nonu Mon 16-Dec-13 09:54:53

Good morning each and all . Damp and dreary here !
Go to the your G.P , Lona , and get something to make you feel better !
We are out to lunch with BIL"s & SIL"s , so that will be pleasant !
Enjoy your day whatever you are doing .
tchsmile

Nonu Mon 16-Dec-13 09:56:06

OOPS , meant ALIE

AlieOxon Mon 16-Dec-13 10:04:00

Thanks Agus and anno....I will ring, and see if I can get to speak to the right doctor.
No point in trying to get through to try and get an appt, always engaged - so these days I ring later and she will see me if necessary when I get to speak to her.
I'm also upset because I was going to sing tomorrow with the U3A group for their Xmas do, and I really wanted to be there. At the moment I get hoarse when I talk for 10 minutes, and cough!!
