Good morning to you all, we have had a wild night here in the NorthEast, but seems calm outside now but still very dark.

The Elves have delivered the Christmas Eve box, it looks to be full of two gingerbread houses to decorate, new PJ's, a couple of Christmas DVDs, popcorn and bubble bath, just need to DGC to wake up to open it.

I have the last bits and bobs to do and then DH want some party food dropped off at work but it has to be warm and as close to lunch time as I can make it, so that has put the cat amongst the pidgeons. tchsmile

Its beginning to feel at bit like Christmas...

glammanana Tue 24-Dec-13 08:08:01

Good Morning everyone, hoping you have an enjoyable time away Mick you will be missed for sure tchsmile
Glass you will be Mrs Goodwife by the sounds of things my friend. Why when things arrive for little ones do they stay fast asleep and you are bursting for they to open up the boxes.?
Lets hope everyone is safe with regards to the weather and enjoys the Christmas celebrations.
Merry Christmas.

What a wild and windy night in NW London. I think that the roof is still intact and my fencing is still up. There was so much rain I am surprised that we did not have mini lakes here.

As I said yesterday I will make do with the scraps of food I have here as I cannot be bothered going out!

PRINTMISS Tue 24-Dec-13 08:14:46

Good morning to you all, and we too have had a wild (NO NOT THAT KIND) night, and are pleased to find the trees still standing. Calm again now, but I have mislaid the o.h. Christmas Card, and bought a special one for our friends which again we cannot find, old age is really taking it's toll these days. Never mind, our sons' birthday today, so we shall take him to lunch at his favourite pub, where we hope his barmaid friend will be on duty. We have bought him his diary, which he always enjoys throughout the year, and the only thing he has ever actually been able to ask for, so we are off for a happy day. On our own tomorrow, by choice and the family on Boxing Day. A special thought for those of you who might be a little sad or poorly at this time of year, but I wish you all the joys of the season.

Good morning everyone. A very happy Christmas Eve to all.

Absolutely wild night here in the North East coast. There are a couple of ships/boats being tossed around in the sea and it makes me feel seasick just looking at them. I have stashes to do today and three lots of shopping. My grandmas list is longer than mine. She eats more than the average working man and will be at mine all day tomorrow anyway. Where does she put all that food?

Those Christmas elves are busy little people Glass sounds like a lovely day ahead.

Have a lovely Christmas Eve. Stay safe everyone. tchsmile

Nelliemoser Tue 24-Dec-13 08:28:59

Good morning to all. I hope those who were caught the storm are safe and dry and those in the area where it is about to hit again do be careful and listen to the forecasts and dig out the candles and warm clothes.

For those not welcoming the festivities don't stress over it its just two days. GN will be open tomorrow to chat.
Seasonal Greetings to all.

Lona Tue 24-Dec-13 08:39:17

Good morning, I'm glad to hear that you are all safe and sound after the wild weather. It looks fairly calm here although a bit wet!
I only have to tidy up at ds's house and then I can drape myself on the sofa until Boxing day!

I wish you all a stress free and very happy Christmas, and those of us on our own..........well I'll see you tomorrow tchgrin

Soutra Tue 24-Dec-13 09:44:31

Good morning all I hope you had no damage in the night and for those still awsiting the wild weather I hope you will have none! May I wish you all a very happy Christmas whether quietly or snowed under with a houseful! And may the spirit of Christmas bring you peace

dustyangel Tue 24-Dec-13 10:57:40

It's wild and windy here but the expected rain hasn't arrived yet. We have covered everything we can in the studio and will have to hope the rain doesn't last long enough to cause any damage.
I hope everyone has a very happy Christmas and Mick and everyone else travelling has a safe journey and fun with friends and family. tchsmile

Kiora Tue 24-Dec-13 11:19:39

Good morning mick and others. Where ever your going what ever you do I hope you enjoy it this Christmas Eve. I have my lovely wayward daughter here plus 1 stroppy 13 year old and his 18 year old autistic brother staying till after Christmas. Tommorow I await my son, his wife's his 16 year old daughter and 3 under 5's but at least they are local and will go home at the end of the day. There will be no peace on earth in this house. I know I'm lucky but .......

ninathenana Tue 24-Dec-13 11:25:15

Morning all, and a very Happy Christmas tchsmile
May all of you who won't be having the Christmas you would hope for find comfort some where.

DH and I were in Morrison's at 7.15 am today for last bits. We then had one of their yummy cooked breakfasts each.

tillyflop Tue 24-Dec-13 14:02:18

Oh Kiora, I wish!! We live in Spain and will be on our own. This is the time I really really miss them all... I know, we could go back, but my husband hates the idea and English weather really is the pits, isn't it? Cold here but at least its dry. Going back anyway is not the same as when they all came to me in our house. I loved Christmas then, feeding them all and watching the little ones play. Couldn't do it now anyway, even if I was there. Still, see and talk to them all during the course of the day, courtesy of the Internet!
Hope everyone has a truly lovely day and spends it close to those they love, in thoughts if not in the flesh.
Happy Christmas everyone.

joannapiano Tue 24-Dec-13 14:54:19

Calm and fairly sunny here in Hertfordshire this afternoon. Gammon cooking in the oven and 7 year old just gone home. DH and I are having an indulgent day on our own tomorrow. We are very fortunate that we see our DC and DGC all the time and GC number 8 due in June.We are very blessed.
A happy and peaceful Christmas all.
PS Morrison's breakfasts are the best, and good value ninathenana !

Brendawymms Tue 24-Dec-13 15:03:50

Trifle anyone. I think I have made much to big a one. The milk man has also left too much milk so have that surplus also.
The ground here is totally saturated but it has stopped raining. Spent morning at charity shop, very very few customers.
Happy Christmas all.

rosesarered Tue 24-Dec-13 16:15:54

I made a huge trifle too! We used to be a family of 5 and I still make too much
Happy Christmas Everyone!

Lona Tue 24-Dec-13 16:21:13

Ditto! Enough to feed the whole of Gransnet! Had to be careful with the sherry though..........can't have tiddly toddlers! tchgrin

Anne58 Tue 24-Dec-13 16:43:05

I miss the trifle tchsad Used to make it when with exdh, now just me and Mr P, who doesn't eat puddings.

I used to always have a bowl of trifle for breakfast on Boxing Day tchblush

PS I think the phrase "tiddly toddlers" sounds wonderful!

(The phrase that is, I am in no way advocating that small people should be imbibing alcohol to facilitate an early night)

Tegan Tue 24-Dec-13 17:18:30

I'm quite excited about this [sad person that I am] but the S.O.'s mother has decided she doesn't need the M&S trifle that she asked him to order for her, so we've got it [hurrah!].I've been really hankering after having trifle this year [can't remember the last time I had one]. I'm looking forward to it more than the rest of my dinner tomorrow [oh phoenix; don't tempt me with the thought of eating it for breakfast].
